Hi Guys

Just wondered if anyone has retro fitted an auto dimming mirror to a 2007 Altea XL

I was given one the other day, I thought I'd connect it up and give it a go
Thing is I was only expecting +12v and a GND cable, NO there are 4 wires on the plug

Any ideas, wire colours are grey, white, green and black

To be honest I haven't removed my mirror yet so not sure if there will be any wiring up there, I was gonna tag it to the interior light and get juice to it that way

While I am asking, what's the easiest way to get the old mirror out, looks like just tags holing it on????

Cheers for looking guys

Cheers Wimbledonian, great find

Will post the findings here, but if you want more info follow Wimbledonian's link in the post above,

I have corrected the voltages needed to disable the dim feature for the reverse and dome function

Pin 1 White = Power +12v

Pin 2 Black = Ground

Pin 3 Grey = Reverse (disables dimming function when reverse is selected) +12v needed to disable mirror dim

Pin 6 Green = Interior Dome Inhibit (Like reverse, it's used to disable auto diming when interior light is switched on) take down to GND needed to disable mirror dim

Looks a pretty easy job to do I think !!!!

Can take the 12v from light dimmer switch by main headlight switch to the mirror and GND feed from the interior lights, could also tap into the interior lights to get the dome function working too. Already have a reverse feed in the dash for my reverse cam so could tap into that and take it up the A pillar, under the head liner to mirror

How easy is it to get the A pillar cover off, I see mine has an airbag logo on it.

Thanks again man, could be a job for the weekend

to get the A pillar off pop out the "airbag" tag un do the T bolt & ease the trim out its held in by a couple of spring clips

cool I will take a look at that, just to confirm there is no airbag in the A pillar then, this just a piece of plastic that covers this bolt, and they decided to print the word airbag on it?????

Just want to make sure, if there is something behind there I will be a bit more careful lol

Fitted it the other week, pretty easy really

Wiring went fine

here is where I picked up the feeds

White wire on mirror is +12v, I got this from the back light adjuster next to the main light switch, used the wire coloured grey, this way the unit illuminates and only works when the lights come on, also the 2 down lights also dim when the dimming wheel is used,

Black wire on mirror is GND, this is easy, take it from the interior light plug by the mirror, Brown wire

Green wire on mirror is Dome function, ie if interior light comes on and it is dark the mirror will return to normal state, this again is picked up from the interior light plug by the mirror, Blue wire

finally Grey wire on mirror is the reverse function, when the car is put into reverse the mirror again will return to its normal state, this was taken to the reversing light on tail, sorry cant remember the colour on this one, but there are only two there

Here is a picture, not the best to try and take a photo of something in the dark without using the flash but here goes, you can make out the red down lights which illuminate the gear stick area. The green light is on the mirror to say it is switched on
