Blue smoke and weird rev

I have a mk4 Ibiza Cupra petrol and it has suddenly started to puff blue smoke when I'm pulling off for the first time in the mornings and also on the overrun. Also when I rev it as the revs return to idle it sort of revs itself a tiny bit aswell which is strange. The engine has just been rebuilt fully and including a k300 turbo. The whole setup has only done around 2000 miles. Any help would be great.

Blue smoke usually indicates its burning oil.

What are your levels looking like? On a rebuilt engine, this is very unusual unless it wasn't done correctly or somethings failed early.

My thoughts exactly it sounds like it is burning oil from somewhere. Burning oil can come from a number of things like piston ring failure which maybe a compression test would aid identification and valve stem oil seals worn which tends to tie in with your description of blue smoke on cold start up. When you say the engine has had a rebuild was it a top end rebuild, bottom end or a complete rebuild as whatever has failed could have been missed off the rebuild. You need to get it checked ASAP really because if it gets too excessive your cat is not going to like it (not the moggy type :) ) and it quite possibly will result in excessive wear of other componants.

Oil levels are normal. My thoughts exactly it shouldn't realistically be an internal problem. Complete rebuild, forged bottom and and stock rebuild of the top end. It is having a leak down, and compression test tomorrow which will hopefully find the cause of this. Cat is non existent anyway lol, but yes I understand what you mean the sooner it can be diagnosed the better. I'm leaning towards valve stem oil seals for some reason

No the head gasket had gone, cracked on one of the cylinders and burned through the other one. Also burned through the top of the cylinder itself. As a result the head was rebuilt, and block decked aswell

Well I have now done both a compression and a leak down test and the results of both were fine so I'm thinking turbo oil seals
