Did you get this sorted?
My LCR is making a loud ticking noise. The hydraulic lifters all look Ok (no scoring or marks), and I have replaced the oil pick up pipe. The pipe was dirty, and there was some sludge in the sump, but with it all cleaned up and refitted the noise is still there.
There is a bit of a whine that accompanies the ticking.

Its the charcol cannister or a sticking injector or the main valve in the PCV system which is located just below the injectors below the intake manifold . High miles chipped engines with forged pistons it will most likely be piston slap caused by bore wear from over fueling or wear on a gudgen pin / small end . Piston slap is more of a clack type noise . The others are more like a loud tick apart from small end which has more of a click with a high frequency ring . All are affected by engine temp etc so will come and go.
