are the sensors on the front the same? could you swap the sensors left to right? this would rule out the sensor being faulty.

Then you only have wiring and the pickup ring maybe someone has bent it during past repairs?

is the abs ring on the driveshaft on these as some cars have it in the wheel bearing?

the brake pressure sensor fault is a common issue on all vag stuff this age i had it on a audi a3 tdi 2005 cost just over £200 from TPS and got the electronic part of the abs pump.

ive already replaced the abs sensor and I cleaned the ABS ring aswell which made no difference. ill have another look at the ABS ring tomorrow as it could be distorted or whatever.

jacked the car up today had a look at the ABS ring and to be honest I cant see much. gave up in the end so put the wheel back on.

I left the car up in the air and plugged the car into VCDS. I went into measuring blocks for the wheel speed sensors and spun the drivers side wheel first. the reading was consistent so I spun the passenger side wheel which is where im having problems and the sensor wouldn't read anything unless I spun the wheel pretty fast. im convinced this has to be either the wiring loom from the ABS to the sensor or the ABS ring.

does anyone know for sure how to replace the ABS ring?

have you visually inspected the wiring for the abs sensor? right back into the bay?.

also check the prongs for corrosion and that they are seating correctly

you say the drivers wheel was a consistent reading? even when moving very slowly?. just trying to get a better idea of what you tried

Not yet I plan on doing this at some point.

The drivers side have a reading whether spinning the wheel slow or fast. The passenger side would only give a reading when spinning fast.

I was sat in my car earlier with the engine running and the esp light on my car came back again!!
Plugged it back in and it's coming up with the same fault code.
Looked at the measuring blocks for g201 and it's reading +13

Left the car for a while and the light went off. Plugged it back in and now the reading is -1

I really don't get it, it can't be the abs ring if it's bringing up this fault code. Could the VAG specialist be correct and it's my abs pump/controller that's faulty?

looks like i cant post another link never mind ill pm you it

that may help he describes where the sensor harness goes a couple posts down, id trace it back as far as i can and o a continuity test on both cables running to the offending wheel

Right, bit of an update to my problem. I took the car for abit of a pasting down the motorway and I came upto a long sweeping left hand bend. I was going at a fairly quick pace lol as the the road was empty and bang the traction control started kicking in this time however It was kicking in on the drivers side wheel. As you can imagine doing that speed and the esp kicking in when it didn't require it was abit nerving.

Obviously the problem isn't limited to the passenger side as originally thought. It's more apparent around town going onto roundabouts which makes it seem like the problem is only linked to the passenger side. Obviously this isn't the case so once again I'm stuck.

*ESP is still kicking in when not required when turning both left and right when going at a fairly quick pace.

*sometimes the ESP light illuminates indicating a fault, when plugging the car in while the light is on it comes up with:
Brake pressure sensor 1 (g201) implausable signal intermittent fault.
Also when going into measuring blocks the brake pressure reads around +13 which it shouldn't be.

*When the ESP light decides to go off the brake pressure readings return to normal.

So far I have done the following:
The brake pressure g201 sensor was replaced with a new genuine part.
The abs sensor for the passenger wheel was replaced.
The abs rings on driver and passenger sides have been visually checked and appear to be fine.
I have completed a basic setting using vcds on all sensors relating to the ESP system.

just a thought but have you checked the lateral accelermoeter ? if it thinks the car is leaning then will kick in the esp.

thought I would post back for people who have similar problems.

Took my car to have two new front tyres fitted 3 weeks ago. As soon as the tyres were fitted the issue went away! The traction control only kicks in when it should which is a relief but slightly annoying as there wasn't anything actually wrong with the car!.

The ESP kicked in when it shouldn't of done at stupidly low speed when Cornering round long sweeping bends or roundabouts when doing around 30 to 40 mph. Now I can pretty much push the car until I can physically feel the car starting to let go without it interfering.
The tyres I hAd on it before were pirellis I definately won't be getting those again!

I've seen a similiar traction control issue on another car make because of low tyre pressures in the rear tyres. So when going round corners to fast the back end was dropping to far and making the front go light and setting the traction control off.

Tracking was done twice and tyre pressures I always check weekly when I fill up with petrol. Only thing it could of been is the tyres. As soon as the new ones went on it stopped kicking in for no reason.
