Whine/whir when opening drivers' side door

As subject, what is the whirring noise when opening the drivers' side door. Is it the fuel pump? I don't hear a whirring when turning the ignition on in this car - I have heard the fuel pump prime in all the other cars I own when turning on the the ignition. Just wanted to know out of curiosity really.

Weird.. I've started to hear a whine/whir when I switch my car off.. lasts about a second but is noticeable.

I think that one is the throttle body mate and is normal if I go by my other cars which have had electronic throttles

When you open the door it will be the fuel pump, and when you switch the car off it's probably the vacuum box.

I have no idea why VAG would do that as opposed to most other manufacturers who program the fuel pump to prime when the ignition is turned on. I have always waited a few seconds prior to turning the engine on in other cars I've owned because of that, though (I've only ever owned petrol cars, so it's not a learned behaviour from owning dervs). So I'm guessing there no need to wait when turning my engine on - pretty much everything has been primed once I've sat down in the car.
