Fitted my oil temp gauge today, I Was suprised how hot it got..... What is the expected temp ? Everything seems to vary.....
Mine seems to get to 95 happily, then shoots to what I'd guess is 115 ? And stays there...Should sit about 90-100 degrees but I have over 130 when pushing it on track
I'll do it for you if you want mate, piss if you can take the blanking plate out the top of the coolerI've gotta wire mine up ASAP! Easy job? Sandwich plate?

Hi Ronin, searching the forum posts and saw you mentioned checking or cleaning the exchanger ? If I drive around slowly it gets to 95/100 and no higher, if I drive anywhere above 50 the oil temp goes up and doesn't come back down, coolant is consistent though looking at vagcom any ideas ?Should sit about 90-100 degrees but I have over 130 when pushing it on track
I've been into engine and measure blocks and there isn't anything on 134 :/ am I in the right place ?Block 134 in vcds should give you oil temp.
I have shell helix 5w 40 and change every 5k. I'm just curious to why mine would run hot as standard, I've only got plug and play mods and they've not been mapped in yet. So wouldn't expect that much variance? Thankfully the gauge doesn't get that high but definitely past the 95 and somewhere between that and 120I hope you have proper oil. Grade A oil should withstand those temps without much hassle. If you drive with +125 degree temps "constantly", you should consider an extra oil cooler.
Should be 134 according to this - http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/m_blocks/130-137.htmlI've been into engine and measure blocks and there isn't anything on 134 :/ am I in the right place ?
Out of curiosity how would a liquid gauge measure oil temp ? Where do they get figure from ?Pretty sure they don't have oil temp sensors...
