Hi all, when I brought my Cupra I was given a gearbox by the seller as he worked in a garage and was going to replace himself as he said the thrust bearing was worm (whining noise when depressed) main question is on speaking to a friend who deals in mk2 golfs with 1.8t conversions he said there is a sleeve or something I should replace at the same time? I can't get hold of him so can't ask him lol. Any help would be great :)

I don't think the cupra gearboxes have a shim on the input shaft as they run am o2m I do believe is it 6speed? If it's thrust bearing then there isn't any need to change box surely?

There are o2m shims available, seen a couple of threads about it and a guide on here.

Cupra-matty is correct though, thrust bearing is part of the clutch. Perhaps the spare gearbox was rebuilt or from a vehicle with less miles?

Sorry guys I have just realised I typed gearbox and not clutch lol, he's given me a new clutch for the car and that's what I will be replacing :)
