About to fit a new temperature sender unit tomorrow.

Had a look at the old one and it only seems to be held on with a plastic circlip type thing???

I waggled it around and coolant started coming out!

Does anyone else think this is a shite way to attach a component which is operating under heat/pressure?????

Check my last post. Make sure the engine completely cold otherwise the coolant will be under pressure and will leak like a *******. Otherwise its easy peasy, pull C clip out, pull sender out of hosing, remove sensor from loom, fit new sensor to loom and back into the hosing with new o ring, make sure the sensor is properly fitted before putting the C clip back on.

Thanks for that!

I get the same with my 1.9tdi in that my Temperature gauge(and ODB II) show about 75 degrees once warmed up.
I get serious power loss when trying to accelerate once warm, but less so when cold.

If I need to replace my thermostat, where is this located?
