just brought an altea and have the following on

spanner with 1200
the spanner light and timer (clock) with 90

any idea what this is for? is it just a service reminder and min mileage befoe its due?

Yeah I think it's the service reminders. There's instructions in the user-manual on how to reset it.

What ^^^ Andy said I think it counts down from 2500/2000 miles and will show for a couple of seconds every time you turn the ignition on.
