First year service details and type

I am a bit confused. My car tells me that my oil needs changing in 500 miles and I have just had a postcard from Seat telling me that my first year service is soon due.

My car will be a year old in 4 weeks and has done 18,700 miles.

I tried to book online via Seat.co.uk/bookservice for the 179 quid service and get the free litre of oil for booking online, but a prompt says that I need to speak to a dealer to ensure I have booked the correct service.

Does anyone have a solid answer as to what service my car needs at 1 year old and 18,700 miles?

Any technical help is most appreciated.

I guess I am too old for all this:cry:

nice choice of car, BTW. what colour?
mine was flagging up nothing at 12 months because only done 10k miles, but I had an oil change regardless...
age is a state of mind, but not always shared by your knees.

on a similar note, I've just had an email from SEAT saying that a service is due soon (coming up to 12 months old), but my actual car is set-up to longlife which is still saying another 8 months. I have an extended warranty so i'm wondering is that forces me on to a 12 month schedule?

I just had this one done yesterday. Its the 2 year service and cost me £230 at a main dealer. Mine is 15 months old and I had mine done 2k miles early (at 17.5k) as it was in for investigation for my odd tyre wear issue.

Dealer tells me there is a 3 year £99 Service Deal on, if you take out the PCP (I didn’t), but not if you have the HP.

I just had my first LongLife service at 18500 miles (car is about 18 months old). SEAT did email me when the car was a year old calling me in for a service, so I guess they don't necessarily know what plan your car is on. It was £240 which is a bit steep for a glorified oil change, but on the plus side they did wash and vac it reasonably well.

I got quoted ~ £360 for an oil-service here in Sweden. Will do this oilchange by my own (10000km) and next year be robbed at the dealer..

Mine is due for an oil change in 700miles. Has currently done 15800miles and will be a year old the end of this month. It had an oil change at 7500miles when I bought it in September. Next service after this an inspection service in another 10k miles. ...does this include an oil change as well? I got two years free servicing when I bought the car.

I think if they use long life oil its every 20000 miles/22000 or 2 years depends what oil they use but if it's just fully synthetic not long life I think it has to be changed every year. The price Is abit more if choose fully but better in long run I suppose

I'm sure the oil used is the same whether on fixed or variable. This was the case when I had my octavia vrs.

To be honnest most cars with dpf filters tend to have long life oil or low ash oil anyway to protect the dpf but all vag diesals that come into the garage I put long life in
