Doing a DIY mufflerectomy

Ive searched but cant find the answer to my individual question...

Im after a mufflerectomy for my 05 leon fr (tdi)

I have the pipe cut just after the rear axle ready for a straight pipe to be put on.

Question is, does anyone know if I can just join a straight piece of pipe onto the one ive cut and will it line up in the centre of the bumper tailipipe cutout.

Im thinking of buying
exhaust joiner (for joining centre cutoff to new pipe)
some 57mm exhaust tubing
an exhaust tip

and just fitting it together myself then asking my neighbour to weld a hanger bracket onto the pipe from the very rear rubber hanger mount,

does this sound doable?

thanks, is that pipe welded on exactly straight or is it at a slight angle?

I set it out on the table and took measurements where the original two tailpipes landed, welded it on to the end I cut and made sure the other end was in same position as the original pipes.
If it's a bit out when I refit it al just persuade it in the right direction.
