OK, so I gave terminal 5 a +12V switched wire (tapped off T4)

1. The radio immediately went into SAFE mode (I can now switch it on & off - BUT only when the ignition is ON).
2. As soon as I pull out the key, it loses the code.

So which terminal wires should I swap, 5 & 7? (It seems so, if I go according to your pic)

PS: Thanks for your patience!

You could try it if that's the only wires that could swap, if you could, a picture might help! If that doesn't work, any garage would I'm sure know how to fix it. I head that the live and ignition wires are red and hello, (what's in my picture) but I heard different colours vary

Have fun, but don't swap wires that seems to be soldered into place :)

OK, so I nailed it eventually:

So here is the Ibiza 4 wiring on the BLACK terminal block (looking at it end-on):
1-I. WHITE/BROWN - NOT USED
2-J. blank
3-K. WHITE/GREY - NOT USED (CAN BUS)
4-L. BROWN/RED - + 12V IGNITION
5-M. Blank
6-N. GREY/BLUE - LIGHTING
7-O. BLACK/BLUE - + 12V BATTERY
8-P. BROWN/BLUE - EARTH

To connect an OEM VW Gamma Radio/CD/MP3 HU (with/without 6cd Shuttle):
(Remember, this is the wiring on the BLACK terminal block (looking at it end-on):
1-I. WHITE/BROWN - NOT USED
2-J. blank
3-K. WHITE/GREY - NOT USED (CAN BUS)
4-L. BROWN/RED - + 12V IGNITION
5-M. Blank - NEEDS +12V Unswitched (connect together with Terminal 7)
6-N. GREY/BLUE - LIGHTING
7-O. BLACK/BLUE - + 12V BATTERY
8-P. BROWN/BLUE - EARTH

If also installing the 6CD shuttle, then you'll have to get the T2 terminal to enable the illumination on the CD shuttle - wiring it up should be as simple as tapping wires of the cigarette lighter's lighting circuit.

Thanks ajanja.

really good thread, great picture guide of how to remove the trim for rear speakers in a 3 door! had no idea how that would even work.
What is the size of the stock speakers in the mk4? ive looked everywhere but no where will give me a figure.

I am currently upgrading the audio in the whole car. Installed a second hand pioneer MVH-8200BT head unit (had the problem with memory not saving once the ignition was off but swapping the red and yellow wires sorted that, thanks dudes!)
a have a compact active sub (pioneer TSW11XA) that i want to install underneath the passenger seat but cant figure out where that grommet is between the engine bay and glovebox that you all seem to talk about?
also, the screws for the glove box are unlike any ive ever seen before. I'm all kinds of confused

What I did is drill though the firewall, in the end I put my power cable running down the passenger side (Left side) and RCA and Remote down the right.

I drilled next to a black wire going though the engine bay, and it was fine, I can have pictures when its a little more sunny here ;)

EDIT: I forgot I put some earlier in the thread

cool, thanks for the reply. did you remove the glove compartment and drill thrkugh that side or drill through from the engine bay? Would definatly be easier to show in a picture :)

I didn't remove the glove box, but did remove a piece of plastic above so I could get to where I wanted to drill. If I remember, the pollen filter "cover" is the plastic I needed to remove, should be above the passengers feet (RHD) I will get loads of photos tomorrow for you

Sorry to go slightly off topic here but is there any modification needed to the cubby hole if I want to fit it up top instead of in the middle, wires are a bit cramped already and I haven't got the steering control interface in yet!

What did that mean? The needs 12v connect to terminal 7? Which colour is terminal 7? And how do I connect it? This is the only thing I’m struggling with

Has anyone had success (or failure) fitting a 2 din HU to a mk2 Leon. Looking at the quad block on the power side it SHOULD be simple enough :oops:I've never had any problems before in two Renaults, a Ford & a Citroen.
The first problem I encountered was when I removed the OEM CD player. I decided to try the head unit I had in my previous car. It didn't work. Needs a custom wiring loom I thought. Reconnected the OEM unit. It had stopped working now.
Got my multimeter out. I had power coming to both CAN+ & CAN-. Can't remember if I got anything on the two + pins at the bottom of the block.
Tested all fuses and they were fine. Tried another HU I have but it wasn't working.
Can't imagine that all three have gone faulty all of a sudden. I'm no electronics engineer . But as there's power to the quadblock. I can't think of what the problem could be. And I don't want to have to buy another HU if I can help it.
Hopefully someone can help as I hate driving far without music :)
