Once again my Car is soon to be renamed the Titanic!! 
I have already Sealed my Passenger Side front door panel but the signs of excessive Damp was once again noticeable, the rear footwell was squelchable to the point where water was on my hand if you placed it on the Carpet.
I decided once and for all to stop the leak/all leaks otherwise I would have to sell the Cupra R in the Summer.
So as we all know everyone has mentioned the following known Leaks:-
• Door Seals (fixed with Butyl Tape or Silicon Sealant – definitive How To’s on here)
• Pollen Filter (always mentioned but I didn’t find a How To)
• Drivers Side cable cable hole
The majority of Passenger Side Footwell Leaks are caused by the Rubber Seal/Strip that is under the Pollen Filter not providing a tight enough Seal. The Seal is supposed to be pushed tight down by 2x Screws in the Pollen Filter Box but IMO the screws do not produce enough force for a tight enough Seal. That plus the fact that if the Pollen Filter Lid isn’t positioned correctly then water flows from the Short Gully on to the Filter Cover or directly into the Pollen Filter. Water will collect around the Cavity and flows under the rubber seal & directly into the Pollen Filter Cavity & into the Car rather than via the Chasis overflow holes.

• Removed Front/Rear Door Panels
• Removed all Door Trim (Passenger Side)
• Removed Front Seat + Rear Seat
• Removed the Soaking Underlay (I cut mine free from the Right Hand Side as I didn’t want to take out the Gear Box Cover etc…)
• Tied up the Top Carpet to Drivers Seat using Bungee Cords
• Mopped up all Water from Front & Rear Passenger Footwells
At this point the Heavens Opened![[:@]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/furious.gif "Furious [:@]")
and I had to get everything in the house, 10-15mins Hail Storm. After 30mins I went back to the car and the Front & Rear footwells (in particular) had 1cm Water. There were also water flow marks from the Top of the Front footwell. Water flows from the Front footwell to the Rear via a gap in bulk head at the side which separates the two footwells. I couldn’t see any water flow marks from the Doors but I will double check on this and I will seal the Rear Passenger Door Seal as it’s all dismantled.
• See Photos of Water in Footwell – I was surprised how much water had flowed into the Car (Via Pollen Filter Cavity)
• Removed Pollen Filter Cover (Mine doesn’t fit flush I had a gap at the top of mine)
• Removed actual Pollen Filter
• Checked the Screws and I could not get to the Right Screw of the Pollen Filter Box without removing the Windscreen Wipers, Windscreen Tray that is at the bottom of the entire Windscreen (careful with the Water Jets). You can remove the Water Gully’s if required.
• Unscrewed the left/right screw of the Pollen Filter Box & lift out the Case
• Check the Rubber Seal on the case
• Clean Out the leaves and gunk collected in the Cavity
• Try and soak up as much water in the Cavity as you can – place your hand in the hole
• Seal around the Cavity and on the underside of the Pollen Filter Box (I used White Bathroom Sealant so you could see it clearer in the Photos)
• Put it all back together – leave the Sealant for few days to dry.
• Sprinkle Talcum Powder on the inside of the car and check for Water Flow from the Door Seals and from the Top of the Front Footwell
• Water Test (using Hose)
• I had Water coming from the Rear Door Seal but none from the Footwells (majority coming from the Pollen Filter) I could now see the Water Trails as it pools
• I removed the Screws & used Sealant under the metal and sandwiched the Sealant and tightened the Screws. I also smeared Sealant with my finger
Finally, I vacuumed all the Talcum Powder and cleaned it all up and put the car back together.
To dry the Underlay I spun half a couple of times in the Washing Machine (just on Spin) and put it on the Radiator and the larger section I air dried for a couple of days and put it on the radiator in the evenings.
That’s it I’m hoping that’s the last I have to worry about Water in my Footwells. I hope this helps others, so if you have LOTS of water in your footwell seal under the Pollen Filter!!
