Hi all I'm going to be looking at a 58 plate cupra with 50k up it. As far as I know the cam follower hasn't been checked. Is this a risk or is it only early cars and mapped cars that are a problem. I've had tfsi versions before and they have been fine but I'm not sure with the tsi?
As I won't be able to check the cam follower before buying the car is there any way of knowing or clues if it's knackered or on its way out?

Any advice would be great thank you.

Covered a lot in this thread and sticky at top of page.

Pics are down on the VWVortex site but there is a vid link on the last page.

It's a £30 part from TPS or dealer and I'd just buy and replace yourself for peace of mind. A garage will charge minimum labour to swap out. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins.
