Its nothing to do with the driver though. Just like how a motorbike goes round a corner is nothing to do with how the rider controls it... So basically what hes saying is Max Chilton could of been the F1 WDC last year if he had the Mercedes car.

The problem I had with this car was how long I had to wait for it, I was given many false dates 7 months to build a run of the mill car where is the logic in that?? because of the wait I was expecting the car to be a lot better than it actually is then to get it and be really disappointed, it sounds pants the Mk2 sounded a lot more natural, its lost its aggressive look, the drive in general is very hard even in comfort, the handleing on the mk2 was a lot more manageable, a lot more fun. My problem was I basically got bored of the car because of the time I had to wait. I remember going to pick it up and on the day there was not one bit of excitement and I remember just saying to the sales guy just give me the keys I need to get off, drove it home and it sat on the drive for a week. How Seat give so many false build dates and take so long to build a car is beyond me espesially when you can order a premium car and have it within 12 weeks.

This has got to be a wind up!

I currently own a Mk1 LCR & often travel in a Mk2 FR. I drove a new Cupra ST this week and was really impressed by the ride quality. How you can say it's hard is beyond me. In comfort mode it felt like a jelly to me. Even in Cupra mode it was nowhere near as hard as my LCR and far less crashy over potholes.

Its nothing to do with the driver, its a just a poor put together car. I personally think the MK2 cupra was a better set up than current.

Although I have had no issues with traction with my 280, several others have so I can believe you have experienced that.

However I am finding the above comment hard to believe. I owned my Mk2 Cupra for four years and it was no way near as good my Mk3.

Same here. This is the 5th Leon we've had and feels by far the best built. The ride, even in Cupra mode, is better than previous models . Handling and grip even given the Bridgestone's is also superior. Yes, I've had issues, the sat nav and media system are not as smooth as previous Leon (although sound is ok) . Not convinced with the LED headlights vs xenon's but will see next winter. Had wheel tramp and it is a pita, hoping it improves with different tyres and possibly bush mod that some have done.
I had difficulty in getting to love this car as I had (and still have) a real soft spot for the previous LCR. It is growing on me though, more so as I push it on the more challenging roads. Most important part though - the wife loves it (it's 'hers') as her daily driver, whereas she never felt comfortable in the LCR.
With regard to delivery dates, ours was delivered two weeks earlier than the dealers estimate, around 9-10 weeks from order iirc.

Agree, the ride is absolutely spot on. Cupra mode is pretty comfortable and cupra is well balanced.

I had a Mk2 Cupra which I loved but the Mk 3 cupra is in a different league in refinement. Its a fantastic car. Love it.

Thank God POLKR! I've been so looking forward to getting the new ST Cupra, hopefully at the end of this month, that this thread was making me think I've made a terrible decision, but glad your'e enjoying your ST Cupra, mind you, to get round the Nurburgring in less than 8 mins, it has to be a little special, surely?!? Happy Days :)

I really couldn't be happier with it. Under moderate acceleration in wet conditions in the St even with the bridges tones traction is ok.

You just can't give it laldy in the wet. I look forward to burning out the front bridgestones and getting super sports.

If every one liked the same cars the world would be boring, thats my view and input of the car, If people buy this car and have never owned this sort of car before then yes it will prob be fantastic however when you have different cars all the time you notice a massive difference between them.

in fairness though mark, it seems that you had somehow in your mind made the car worse than it was before even picking it up. maybe due to the wait? (this is why i don't buy new new cars... i'm an only child, and therefore inpatient as all buggery).
think of it this way, if you hadnt had problems with picking it up, your attitude would not have been all like "look just give me the keys" and begrudgenly having had to drive it home.
you would have most likely had a lot more excitment and therefore your attitude towards the car would have been a lot more positive than it ended up being.

the mind is a very temperamental thing, it is all to easy to create barriers for things and cause you to subconsciously dislike something.
I had a similar problem with mine. I had an ST220 up until March when some daft cow decided to pull up right behind me as i was reversing (long story, am apparently at fault just because i was the one doing the maneuver). almost immediately after that i fell out of love with my car. I can't give any real reason why. but less than a month later i was back behind the wheel of a cupra.

sorry for the rabbiting on, the misses is out and kids are in bed and i'm at a bit of a loose end :)

Yh suppose your right, was a bad experience from the start so maybe looked for faults from the start, some cars do it some don't, I guess this is one of them cars.

This is the same as I have found, all my Biza Cupras were a much harder ride, even compared to the 280's Cupra mode, and when in comfort mode it's like a limo in comparison. I have also had no problems with the Bridgestone tyres, once they are warmed up and find the traction spot on in the dry, as I don't give it full beans when wet can't comment other than It still is pretty quick anyway.

I agree too.

The OP is buying an S-Line Audi and he thinks the Cupra Comfort suspension is firm?!? I would love to know where you test drove the Audi? It must have been smooth roads.....

It was smooth because it had drive select massive difference, and its not an sline its an S5.

lol you just aint gonna win on SCN if you abandon your Seat, least youre staying VAG tho, kudos for that.

Unfortunately this thread will go like the hindenburg if you keep replying, we should probably wrap it up, so heres what ive gathered so far:

  • The cupra needs AWD
  • Mk2 Leon's FTW
  • Max Chilton would need more than a Mercedes
  • Kazand needs Bush

Voilá! :D
