The problem I had with this car was how long I had to wait for it, I was given many false dates 7 months to build a run of the mill car where is the logic in that?? because of the wait I was expecting the car to be a lot better than it actually is then to get it and be really disappointed, it sounds pants the Mk2 sounded a lot more natural, its lost its aggressive look, the drive in general is very hard even in comfort, the handleing on the mk2 was a lot more manageable, a lot more fun. My problem was I basically got bored of the car because of the time I had to wait. I remember going to pick it up and on the day there was not one bit of excitement and I remember just saying to the sales guy just give me the keys I need to get off, drove it home and it sat on the drive for a week. How Seat give so many false build dates and take so long to build a car is beyond me espesially when you can order a premium car and have it within 12 weeks.
Its nothing to do with the driver, its a just a poor put together car. I personally think the MK2 cupra was a better set up than current.
This has got to be a wind up!
I currently own a Mk1 LCR & often travel in a Mk2 FR. I drove a new Cupra ST this week and was really impressed by the ride quality. How you can say it's hard is beyond me. In comfort mode it felt like a jelly to me. Even in Cupra mode it was nowhere near as hard as my LCR and far less crashy over potholes.

Thank God POLKR! I've been so looking forward to getting the new ST Cupra, hopefully at the end of this month, that this thread was making me think I've made a terrible decision, but glad your'e enjoying your ST Cupra, mind you, to get round the Nurburgring in less than 8 mins, it has to be a little special, surely?!? Happy Days
Yh suppose your right, was a bad experience from the start so maybe looked for faults from the start, some cars do it some don't, I guess this is one of them cars.in fairness though mark, it seems that you had somehow in your mind made the car worse than it was before even picking it up. maybe due to the wait? (this is why i don't buy new new cars... i'm an only child, and therefore inpatient as all buggery).
think of it this way, if you hadnt had problems with picking it up, your attitude would not have been all like "look just give me the keys" and begrudgenly having had to drive it home.
you would have most likely had a lot more excitment and therefore your attitude towards the car would have been a lot more positive than it ended up being.
the mind is a very temperamental thing, it is all to easy to create barriers for things and cause you to subconsciously dislike something.
I had a similar problem with mine. I had an ST220 up until March when some daft cow decided to pull up right behind me as i was reversing (long story, am apparently at fault just because i was the one doing the maneuver). almost immediately after that i fell out of love with my car. I can't give any real reason why. but less than a month later i was back behind the wheel of a cupra.
sorry for the rabbiting on, the misses is out and kids are in bed and i'm at a bit of a loose end
It was smooth because it had drive select massive difference, and its not an sline its an S5.
Nothing like a bit of bush.....lol you just aint gonna win on SCN if you abandon your Seat, least youre staying VAG tho, kudos for that.
Unfortunately this thread will go like the hindenburg if you keep replying, we should probably wrap it up, so heres what ive gathered so far:
