Can't fold my wing mirrors in on my 2013 Leon SE

Hi all,

I recently bought a 2013 (63 reg) Seat 5dr SE 1.6 tdi with tech pack and I can't figure out for the life of me how to fold the wing mirrors in. I've searched the forum but am struggling to find a solution.

The computer only has 1 option to tick in the "mirrors and wipers" section and that is to synchronise the movement on the mirrors.

I've tried to hold down the lock button when I leave the vehicle and this only winds up the windows. The mirrors stay in position. I can't see a button anywhere in the car. The mirror adjustment has the dial that shows - L 0 R and the heater.

They can't manually be moved either. I'm all out of options. Any ideas anyone?

usually on the control dial there's a fifth setting to manually fold them and there'll be addition to the Visibility Settings menu to "lower when reversing" and "fold in after parking". if none of these are present then the car probably doesn't have the feature as it was an option on the SE

thanks for the swift reply.

A bit strange that there's no option to even be able to do it at all. Not even manually.

problem is the motor is located in the mirror housing so it's not economically viable to have the hardware in place but then omit the button to operate it. so there won't even be a manual option from inside. the only way to do it would be by hand from outside.

and by manually you mean with your hands and push them in right?

Yeah, sorry, by manually I mean by hand. I've applied a fair amount of pressure on them and they don't budge. I didn't wanna put any more pressure on it as I wanted to check on here first. (I only got the car yesterday).

I'll try again when I next go out

if there's no position for manual folding on the control the electrics probably aren't there.
have you called seat customer service and asked if that specific vehicle had that option fitted?

unfortunately they usually require a sharp knock to overcome the 'locking' mechanism. a knock that's quite scary to do for a first time but once you've experienced it once it's not too bad. i wouldn't like to do it frequently though :)

Haha, sod it, I'll just never fold them in. Not like they stick out miles anyway...

remember my Chrysler Sunbeam had door mirrors on stalks, and they didn't fold.
several times I'd come out in the morning and find one or both laying on the ground where some pisshead had grabbed and wrenched them for a laugh on their way home.

just be careful

Leon Manual said:
Before washing the vehicle in an automatic car wash, please make sure
to retract the exterior mirrors to prevent them from being damaged. Electrically
retractable exterior mirrors must not be folded in or out by hand. Always
use the electrical power control.

I have a 2014 ST SE, no folding mirrors.

At first I thought the same as you, that they didn't fold at all. Turns out they're just really stiff. Instead of pushing on it like any other mirror I've ever folded manually, it seems on the Leon you have to grab the whole thing and twist it in toward the car, if you push on the back it won't budge. It needs twisting! Lol

Oh and no 10 o'clock on my mirror adjustment stalk either. My menu setting is the same as the OP described.

Yeah, thats the worry.

Does anyone own a Leon SE without the electrical folding mirrors?

The se doesn't come with electric mirrors as standard

I've folded in non electric mirrors on the Mk 3
It does require quite a lot of force to overcome the spring loaded detent
I guess if it was easy they would just keep folding in at high speed
Anyway just stand in front of the mirror facing the back of the car, use both hands on the left and right side of the mirror and attempt to twist the mirror, slowly increase the force till you over come the spring detent then it will move easily
