It has the updated piston rings. It uses no oil at all and runs like a dream, the engine is fine. :)

I think its the high pressure fuel pump thats not delivering enough when starting (apparantly there is an upgraded version for that also). But I want to test to be sure. ;)

If you have the new pistons and piston rings you'll be fine in terms of oil consumption and on some level misfires too.
Yes, that's what I meant with hpfp - high pressure fuel pump. Ideally you should also change the injectors with the newer ones.
Try to find someone with the same model to swap hpfp's to see if it's going to solve your problem.

I'm changing the spark plugs and fuel pump on mine next month when payday finally arrives and see if that works, if that doesn't then I'll be looking at changing the coil packs and then if that still doesn't work then it could possibly be a fueling sensor somewhere
