I'm on the verge of getting a LCR but I'm worried I'm going to be buying a dog and have to spend money on it that I don't have so Im asking for peoples opinions or advice on this. Should I spend money on my cupra on new wheels (i would get LCR wheels gloss black) and a couple of new mods or should I just bite the bullet and go for a LCR? Im getting used to the speed of my cupra now too. Its been remapped so I'm guessing it should be 190-200bhp.

Mate if there's nothing wrong with the car you have then keep it, just spend money on that car and do it up, I think all LCRs out there have been thrashed, I'd never buy one I'd rather do my LC up, least I know that I've put the time and money into my own car and not thrashed the arse off it, I was lucky I bought my car from my nabour and he was an old guy so I no for defo my cars sound, plus £5k for a 10 year old Seat,,,no thanks I could spend half of that making mines looks just like one and that's with the engine also, that's what I think but totaly up to you mate everyone on hear will have a different opinion.

A remapped AUQ should give you 210 - 215hp in theory.

How many miles are you on at the moment?

Personally I think the LCR has a naff interior! The gearsticks and steering wheels wear in no time and I prefer the silver console of the facelifted LC. But then I am biased!

same for LCR's in .nl, hard to find and the ones that are for sale are kinda trashed, the few you could still find have their pricetag though worth the value. I'd stick with your LC and spend a few coins on known issues/upgrades.

Well said, but the ones that cost a fortune least you know they have been taken care off, you go buy one from someone under 25 it's gonna be thrashed for defo, stick with what you got mate, I'm never getting rid of mine, I'm forking out £10k very soon on doing my car up, cant wait.

Exactly, and it's really hard to find an untouched OEM(+) BAM/AUQ, though there is one now on the dutch forum, but I'd rather not go there with the drivers seat on the "correct" side ;-)

I'm heading towards the 100 k. 99+ now. Mechancally there's nothing wrong with it apart from PVC pipes splitting. But that's nothing of a problem. I like the black seats and 225 thick steering wheel to be honest. I like the front bumper too looks aggressive and sporty which I like. Maybe some coilovers and some LCR alloys and I'll be happy with it. I'm sorry to offend anyone but I hate the star fish alloys on it. Its the total opposite to sporty. I've seen a couple of standard LCR for around 3k. Couple at 2600 aswel with 130k on clock though which is too many miles in my eyes if I'm coming to sell it in the future.

I paid £1400 for my LC had 72.000 on the clock had it since December last year it's done 82.000 now, not spent much on it, new water pump and belt, thermostats, coolent sensor, 4 tyres, 1 wheel baring, fuel filer, oil filter and oil x 2. All the parts on the LCR you can put on the LC, u would be cheaper buying the parts mate and doing it yourself, I do most of my work. Once you start spending a lot of cash on your car and you reach over the 100.000 mile mark say goodbye to all that cash you have put into the car, ur best keeping it cause u will never get the money back. When I stick this 10k in to my car I'll never be selling it, it will be used as a show car that's all, keep ur car mate and spend money on it.

Ive owned both a Cupra and a Cupra R and personally prefer the LCR to drive by a mile, far better car in every way. Its a fair point though you always run the risk of selling a reliable car and buying a dog. But thats just used cars in general.

Proff_86 cheers for reply I wanted people who have owned both to give their input on this. By the sounds of it it's worth changing but I'm not going to just jump into it. Need to find one close enough and not ragged.

They are out there it just takes some searching. It helps having already owned a Leon before because you already know most things to look for. I would budget 4k for a good one

I've been looking just to see what's out there for 6 month but I've been searching properly for 2 month I think. Seen a few I like but there usually too far out. Don't like traveling because I don't have that much spare time to waste going to view a car 4 hours away and not buying it if you get me. There's a car just what I want literally 2 minutes down the road but he wants 4500 at least. Im not paying more than 4 for one. 3500 is pushing it has to be the perfect one for that. How much realistically would I get for my cupra? I got offered £1000 part ex lol. Thats why I walked away from that car. I was hoping 2k? But on eBay I seen a very nice red cupra go for £1500 I couldn't believe it nice alloys looked polished up. Milage wasn't bad either just over 100k.

All LCR's have been thrashed some people do look after cars and warm them up before booting them and maintain them properly. If you look about and buy a good one they are fine. Had mine nearly 4 years and only had 2 coil packs fail. Think sometimes its a case of if you havent got an LCR its easy to put them down or go on about them being thrashed. Green eyed monster and all that lol

Had my 53 plate for a year now and to be fair I've spent an enormous amount on it - mainly through wear and tear (tyres / brakes / clutch) and choice (Milltek / 007p / 3" TIP / Lights / Badges / Interior Trim).

The only things that have 'failed' on the car are 2 x coil packs and the thermostat playing up ... So to be fair its been very reliable.

Then again I'm the sort of person who goes for proactive maintenance on my car, ie when I got the stat changed I also changed the temperature sender, coolant tank and coolant :)

Agree with the above 2 posts. Most niggly issues are general wear items like brakes, clutch etc etc typical to any 10 + year old car to be fair.
The LCR is a fantastic all rounder, fast, 5 doors good sized boot, big brakes, map to around 260bhp-280bhp fairly cheap to buy at 3 to 4 grand.. its difficult to find a car that ticks all these boxes on that budget hence why ive gone full circle and gone back to one after a few years of different cars in between that couldnt quite match it...

For the money there's nothing that beats them. They look the nuts I still find myself looking back at mine. Would never sell it. No car comes close for the money and the tunability. Plus in years to come they will be rare as so many are broken I like that.

If you have the option then the choice is clear... you know it in your head... to make your car basically an lcr as said above budget around 2k for everything not including the engine and turbo... you have lcr steering rack lcr brembo (going for nearly £600 for a working set) then if you wanna get to the nitty gritty you have wishbones interior steering wheel at £100+ if your happy with the cupra then that's fine but if your even thinking about getting an lcr just do it =)

Lol. I turn and look at mine as well. Strange cus mine is identical to yours bud. Maybe cus red is the best colour lol. Spent 2 days cleaning it so far. Will finish it off tomorrow. I agree that they are becoming rare each day as well.

I think the logical thing would be a lcr but hold out for a good one. You wont regret it.

There are good ones out there it's just finding the right one. I got lucky and it was the first one I looked at.
