Hi all, just registered, I am looking for my first Exeo, have been looking at a few post 2009 diesel estates, can anyone put me straight on the engines.
Are all post 2009 diesels common rail?
Do they all have DPF'S.
ON the common rail engines, what is the timing belt service interval.
Thanks

forgot to ask, what is the difference between the basic 'S' and 'SE'.

Hi welcome to the forum, to answer your first questions, all diesel engines are common rail and are fitted with a dpf. The difference between S & SE is on SE 17'' wheels, auto wipers, acoustic windscreen, coming home headlights, auto lights, electric folding mirrors, auto dim rear view mirror, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, 4 additional speakers, ambient light pack, adjustable lumbar support, leather steering wheel and gear knob, chrome side window trims, aluminium door sill trims, different interior choices and stainless steel roof rails. Hope this helps you to find what is in my mind a great car.Timing belt is 5 years or 140,000 whichever comes first....Julian

Thank you Julian, very helpful. There is a car nearby but it is the basic S, The SE seems worth holding out for.

Hi, I test drove an S 120 bhp, but bought a 143 SE ST, a much better car, equipment wise and I think should be more plentiful now than an S on the used car market....Julian

This is a 143 S, but as you say the SE is much better equipped. Will keep looking, thanks again.

Not much more to add on Julian's comments but defo seek out the best spec you can. There are some with the tech pack which came with nav and iirc leather too. They are labelled "SE Tech" or "Sport Tech"

Indeed my Sport TECH is the same spec but with 18' wheels and a lower / firmer suspension. Also the 170 (or 195 chipped) engine is far more flexible.

The 143 bhp engine is very smooth while running, I'm not sure if it's just me but when you first start it up does sound tappy but soon goes

Mine is an 09 plate 'S' and came with the following as standard :-

OEM 18'' wheels, auto wipers, acoustic windscreen, coming home headlights, auto lights, electrically and adjustable folding mirrors, auto dim rear view mirror, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, 4 additional speakers, leather steering wheel and gear knob, chrome side window trims, and aluminium door sill trims.

It doesn't have :-

Ambient light pack, or adjustable lumbar support.

I posted some pics somewhere in the forum.
