Hi, was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Around town & up to about 40mph everything seems fine. As soon as I hit 50-60mph & try to put the foot down (typically so far when I get on the motorway) I get this message on the dash, I start losing power & I'm lucky if I can even get into 6th gear without being prompted to drop into 5th or even 4th. All the while the glowplug/coil light flashes orange until I kill the ignition. It's gone when I start the car again until I go too fast.

I'm currently booked in to get it looked at with the 'stealer' I'd originally bought it from new 5yrs ago but I'd like to do my homework as I don't entirely trust them (Arnold Clark)

cheers guys

Mine did this last year. Turned out to be a leaky boost pipe.

Try an find someone with VCDS close to you, will save you quite a few ££'s

Get someone to scan it for faults on VCDS. Might be a simple case of needing a new coil pack.

It's diesel ' won't be coil pack, as said though get the t on vcds is a must, could be DPF or anything

Nice one guys cheers! On way home last night the ECU light came on as well & has remained to be. Can get up to about 65mph but 70+ & the Coil light comes on & limp mode kicks in.

I've found 2 places to try outwith Arnold b**tard Clark. This one's local to me so will likely try him as he's been recommended.

If he can't see me in time I might try this local chap who mainly fits tyres but also does ECU remapping

thanks for your help!

I had this problem exactly on my 1.6TDI, and it's an EGR Valve fault. Very common on 1.6TDI, not sure about other engines.

Get it scanned to be sure, but if you see an EGR Sensor Position fault, or signal problem then it's a new EGR unfortunately.

How much roughly would i be looking at when replacing an EGR do you know?

Thanks for the info!
