Hi

Iv just bought a Cupra R which has a "custom" exhaust system on it which is basically a straight through pipe (several pieces welded together)into a 4inch oval back box, as you can guess it's very loud and not so road legal!

Any suggestions on if i could have this chopped and the cat and maybe a front or rear silencer welded in or do I have to buy a complete new exhaust? Local performance garage want £1350 for a milltek system.

Cheers

My advice to you is to get down to your local garage tell them they're thieving b*stards and then let us know once you've done that and we'll give you some more advice.

Me personally I'd get a new exhaust sounds like a right bodge but then I'm a fussy ****er lol.

Hi

I have a magnex cat - back and 3" custom down pipe and de cat and its not loud at all.

The rear section has a small silencer before the back box which I am thinking of having removed for a little more noise although I dont want it to be loud so still undecided .

I think the back box controls most of the noise ,why not try picking up a second hand back box see if that makes a difference before commiting to a cat back or full system?
