I have a 52 reg Seat Leon 110Tdi. Just the other day a problem started by which the wipers when on intermittent would get to the bottom of the screen and then bounce up a few inches, stop and then go again as per time delay. I thought nothing much to it until I went to switch them off and they went into regular mode not off. Tried switching on and off again the wipers that is, then even the engine off and still the issue remains. The only way to fix it is to hold the wiper down whilst in intermittent mode and then flick them to off. Problem stops right up until you use the wipers again then they go into stoopid mode again.

I am thinking it might be a motor issue but would appreciate feedback. Also are there any diagrams or pictures of where the motor etc is. Sorry if this question has been asked, I have trawled the forums but not found the exact same issue.

Cheers boys in advance.

It does sound like the cam on the motor ....dunno if you can buy parts separately (it's probably easier to just replace the lot tbh)

Pop the covers off the top of the wiper arms and undo the bolts holding them down - you might need to wiggle the first part of the arm up and down a bit to free it from the spindle.

Pop the bonnet up and pull the seal at the front of the scuttle away/up and the scuttle trim (the black plastic along the bottom of the windscreen) should just pull away. I think the motor's held in with 3 (?) 10mm nuts or bolts

I replaced the motor with a second hand one and still the same issue so either been very unlucky or its not the issue. Basically when you put the stalk to off they go on normal speed and the only way to get them to stop, is to put them into intermittent and during its downtime, push the blades down and then flick the stalk. Have I just been unlucky or do I need to buy a brand new motor.

Did you replace the whole mechanism, or just the motor itself ? My previous reply was probably a little misleading, the mechanism determines whether they stop or not - the relay neither knows nor cares how long they take to do a sweep; it leaves the power on (so they go again straight away when they return), or cuts power and re-triggers the intermittent sweep again after a short time (during which time they've returned and stopped ....or not in your case)

Either the switching mechanism is sticking, and/or the power to trigger wire isn't being cut for some reason ...could be the relay, but I still think it's at the end that gets cold, wet and corroded in the scuttle tbh
