Hi, this is covered lots on this forum but there is no definitive answer so im gonna try again and see if anyone actually sorted their problem, here it goes,

2002 seat leon cupra 180 with boost problem,

When driving at low revs if I just feather the throttle and hold my foot in the same position my boost raises from 20 vac to 0 on the gauge then it will dump boost and drop back into vac even tho I havent actually pressed the accelerator pedal down.... this ony happens at low revs and lightly pressing the pedal.... when this happens you can feel the car loose power/misfire type feeling.

so basically the car builds up boost and dumps it even tho im barely touching the accelerator pedal and at the same time feels like its misfiring, bare in mind I havent let of the accelerator it does this whilst I hold the pedal in the same position and then it will just carry on as normal until I change gear etc

any help appreciated

mine does the exact same thing kind of like a big flat spot at about 1600 rpm, i changed my coil packs which helped but didnt get rid of it totally and now its got worse again. ive heard the recirc valves are known for going so maybe this could cause the issue, hopefully some one with a bit more experience on here can clear it up for us ???

Hi lads, not sure i entirely understand the issue with 118118, but the 1st thing is that the accelerator pedal in these cars isn't connected to the engine by a cable, it's all electronic, the ECU can modify the throttle butterfly position by itself. So in 118118's case, then if it only happens at very low revs and flat throttle position then it's possible that you are noticing that affect. If the car drives normally and boosts ok then i shouldn't worry. Aslo check for leaks as for G severn below.....

Gsevern, check under the inlet manifold for split PCV pipes..... Have a look at my post #15 in this thread for more details and pics of the pipes etc http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=423985

You need to get a decent torch in there and have a real good look, any oil on those pipes is a dead giveaway for a leak somewhere near

The turbo will only produce boost if the demand is there, at low throttle once the car has accellerated to the required point it will dump any excess.

This.

Boost increases with throttle increase. No throttle = no boost. Hence why no boost at idle.
