A Question of Light

So the LCR's headlights are not the best (not the worst either) so for these dark winter days/nights was thinking of replacing the main and dipped beams with something like Osram Nightbreakers but would there be any benefit in replacing the sidelights, number plate lights with cree type led ones and even the stop/tail lights with led ones ?

Hi bud. I have fitted osram night breakers to dipped and main beam. Impressed with them. Also done led number plate bulbs. Very bright. Been told by people following me that they light up the road as well as the plate. Lol.
Got led side lights. No noticeable difference whilst driving but look good. Hope this helps.

Cree led will update the car and make it look better IMO. If you want to go better for headlights put some HIDs in, they are illegal but it's not really policed.

You can buy H7R HID lamps, which dont dazzle oncoming traffic. They do cost a little more but are worth it just so you dont get any anal police pulling you over IMO

Aaaaaaaargh more questions than answers.

So I have worked out I need the following.

H7R
Canbus
55watt

But what colour ? 6000k or 4300k

and AC or DC ballast

and finally

any manufacturers better than others/worse than others ?

Sorry for all questions (When I first started driving we had candles for headlights)

Right then mk1 Leon then yes you need H7R
No you don't need canbus (the mk1 Leon is not canbus enabled)
35/55 doesn't matter (forgot what mine are)
Colour is personally preference 4300k is oem 6000k is pure white 3000k is yellow 8000k White/blue 10000k blue 12000k violet/blue
AC or DC I'm not sure will check mine tomorrow
£25/£30 eBay specials are good even come with 1 or 2 year warranty. I replace bulbs every year and sometimes ballasts due to them fading/changing colour.

Main beam HID's fitted and I have to say not overly impressed, yes the light output is lovely and crisp and white but the output doesn't reach out as far as I thought it would and there seems to be more sideways light.
