Go SMF if you want power if you want comfort stay DMF. I'm running Sachs organic race clutch. It's heavy on the pedal like a race clutch is and due to SMF but no problems and will last, very very noise when clutch is out on ideal, consider that if you go SMF.

Hi everyone.
On January I hade to rebuild my gearbox on my Seat Leon Mk1 ARL(there was a terrible noise on 5th gear) and then I changed whole clutch set with DMF from Sachs. Everything was ok for a month. After 2000kms I heard a rattle noise, when I depressed clutch pedal and shifted up. After few months the noise is very intensive and I took back my gearbox to specialist, who did the rework on January. Everything was ok, and I put back gearbox but nothing changed. When I depress clutch and bring engine RPMs to 2000 the noise is very heavy, so I am thinking about it a lot and in my opinion, the problem will be in "clutch system" not in gearbox, because when I depress clutch gearbox stops. Can everyone help me with this problem?
I have another one noise on 3rd and 4th gear around 2000 RPM If I accelerate the noise is more intensive when I decelerate the noise dissapers. Every bearing in gearbox was changed, all wheel hub bearings too but the noise is still there.
Thank you. I have a link for movie for my first problem, but I can´t post it.
The name of my video on ytb is Seat Leon FR 1.9 TDI 110kW clutch/ transmission noise

Personally I'd opt for the Sachs DMF and Sachs SRE clutch plate.
You'll have a clutch that is capable of more power and still have a decent drivability around town.
Not to mention quieter operation, SMF on a derv are just too noisy for my liking.

I've had 2 SMF conversions so far. First was on my PD130 Golf, was quieter than when I took it in for the work and would not chatter at all. Second was on my B7 A4 2.0 TDi, again using the same kit no noise at all and driveability was fantastic. I used Valeo conversion kits both times, the friction plate apparently has some kind of dampening to stop the gearbox chatter. Whatever it has, both of mine have been silent and fantastic and the kits were just over £300. I should mention, both of my cars were remapped and the conversion handled the extra torque without issue.

If you're staying with just a standard remap I would buy another standard clutch, F**K going SMF they're loud!! sound like car's falling apart.

I know this from experience, I had standard on my hybrid running 220 without any problems but then went onto GTB so had to go SMF or run the risk of blowing it all up

If you're thinking of hybrid or bigger turbo I would suggest SMF and race clutch for piece of mind but if staying stage1 go with the easy option...

That is purely your choice. If you are going to add som HP to your car then you should buy something that can handle the power and torgue but it is still drivable in to the city. Personally i have owned through various stages of course Sachs which for me (=sucks) it's a lot noisier. Currently i have a SPEC Clutch Kit for 5 years now and i am beyond happy (it's also noisy on idle only on neutral and only on 6SPD gear boxes due to the lightened flywheel but it's on a whole different level). Of course there is also the price you have to spent so you have to think everything.
