So after recently breaking my phone and losing all my pics of the cupra and the work done so far I decided it's time to start a thread incase it happens again!
I bought the cupra back in July after sticking a bid down on it on the bay and not really expecting to win. Went to fetch it the following Sunday not really knowing what to expect and after a 8 hour round trip I couldn't have been happier with it. Going from driving a 65bhp polo daily to whipping back from the south in a 195bhp cupra you can imagine how big the smile on my face was.
On the way home with the polo:
After I stopped driving it and got it home I realised how much of a shed it actually was. It had been resprayed in a candy red colour but only an outer shell respray, the springs had been cut, engine was squeeking from somewhere, tyres were bulged and bald, radio didn't work and the list continues but if I carried on this would be a what's wrong with my car thread and not a build thread.
Despite the downfalls it did come with some goodies:
Borbet A's (wrecked however)
Forge boost pipe
Full stainless decat system
Forge 007p
Aftermarket cone filter
Uni fmic with silicone piping
Mapped to 195 brake and 230 pounds (with readout)
Nomad pillar
Heko deflectors
Because of its history (10 previous owners, 121k miles) and the state of the rest of the car I decided to go all out on it which will include an engine rebuild, full respray ect...
So first things first I gave it a wash (pics are all from friends after losing mine so sorry for lack of photos)
Soon after this me and a friend began to strip the interior out (headlining and pillars) not for any particular reason just because at this point I wasn't really sure what I was doing.
Next I began to take off the front end ready to get the engine out. As it stands now it has no radiator, intercooler, slam panel, bumper but the only pic I have is from halfway through
Since having the cupra I was on the lookout for some decent wheels for it as I hated the Borbets and finally came across some comps
The borbets:
As it stands:
The comps could do with a refurb but they came with brand new nankangs all round so I was pleased.
I planned to paint the interior pillars satin black one day but the same day my bed sheet came for the headlining retrim so a friend and I got busy and 4 hours later...
In the future I'll try not to lose my pics cus I know you guys love plenty of pics. More to come soon...
