Lcr cutting out at 1/4 tank

Got a really weird issue...
I went to fit an uprated bosch fuel pump a few months ago.
Realised it didn't fit the swirl pot properly so refitted the standard pump.
Went home, did a Google and found that people had already encountered problems with the bosch pumps.
Mainly the cutting out under a 1 / 4 tank of fuel.
But it started doing it with the standard pump.
And I've now fitted a dw65 pump and it still does it!
Literally as soon as the needle hits the 1 / 4 mark it just stalls.
She fires up again a few secs later and will run, sometimes for 10 mins, sometimes less.
It's only when the car's up to temp.
And happens at idle, on boost, up hill, down hill. Seems to be no pattern.
I've checked the wiring to the pump, the pipes, the swirl pot and can't find anything that's looks to be split/broken.

Anyone got any ideas?

ok so there are issues with the bosch pump, which you didnt fit, but are getting the same with the OEM refitted.

I wonder if there is a common issue with how people are removing and fitting the pumps. perhaps something that needs to be done (or not done) thats not obvious..

all i can find is people having this same issue around 1/4 of a tank, and the only fixes i could find was fitting a new fuel pump.

I bloody hope so!!
I wondered if I had maybe bent the wire that holds the float.
But after sitting it next to a mate's it appears to be fine...
I've had the fuel pressure tested and it's fine.
And it shows no error codes...

why did you go to fit a new pump in the first place? was it ok?

seems lots of people have had to 1/4 tank issues across the VAG range, but the only fixes i can find that have worked is a new pump.

dont suppose this mate is a good enough one to try swapping pumps?

I've fitted a hybrid and all the supporting bits, including the uprated pump.
After finding the bosch didn't fit well I refitted the standard and then a week or so later fitted a new dw65 uprated pump.
And I've had the issue with both pumps. Also the pressure has been tested on my current dw65 and it's spot on.
In my mind it has to be electrical.
Really hoping that as it seems to be a common problem someone will have solved it!
It's driving me crazy!

Heard of this before, usually means the bottom of new pump is not sitting correctly, best option will be to take pump apart again and make sure your new pump is sitting and sealed in the swirl pot properly, only needs to be out a little out of alignment to cause the problem you are having.
