Hi, i have a 2014 1.6tdi Leon. Ive noticed that sometimes my fan comes on for about 6-7 minuites when i stop my engine! Ive only just had the car for about a week now, it has 8k miles on the clock. Any ideas?

It's because the car was trying to do a DPF regen. That gets the engine very hot , so if it's interrupted then the fan has to stay on to cool things down.

You need to go on a 15-20 min drive once the engine is warm and keep it at a steady 2-2.5k revs at >40mph.

It's very dependant on the type of journeys you do. I do mostly motorway miles and the odd bit of town driving so I only notice it every few months

Thanks. I do a mixture of driving, short drive to my work (2 miles) some town driving and long drives about once every 2 weeks. At least i now know why the fan is coming on and its meant to!!:)

Don't worry about the fan, when or if it needs to regenerate the D P F filter the warning light comes on the dash then go for a blast.

The light means the dpf has failed to complete a few regen cycles and is blocked more than normal so you MUST go for a drive.

And taking it for a "BLAST" with the dpf warning light on will do more harm than good.
Needs to be a steady speed ( above 40mph ) with revs around 2000 to 2400 till the light goes out.

Sitting on a motorway at a steady speed is deffo not my idea of "FUN"

Your suggestion of giving it beans will only clog up a DPF.
The "Italian tune-up" used to work on the older non-dpf cars to clear out the soot.
