hello there, ive been having problem with both my rear doors, the problem is as follows, once i lock the car with the fob, then come back to get back in,i press the unlock button twice in quick sucession to unlock all doors but the back ones dont open but front 2 and boot but,BUT if i undo the window or lean in and undo from the inside it opens and closes easily as many times as you like, but lock it with fob and im back to square oen,has been like this for 2/3 months, wasnt a problem with just being the back, but now the drivers one is also doing it so im having to lean over the passenger side which is now the only door that opens, any help with my problem and what is is?costs to fix?common problem? would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance

Same problem with mine. Both drivers side doors do the exact same thing. Can you still unlock the drivers door by sticking the key in the door lock?

Surely this should be a recall as it is a safety concern that affects so many vehicles?

Your lock solenoid's are shot, a seat issue as the micros witches within the lock burn out..

My 09 had the issue on the o/s/r not opening from the outside.. I got a salvage part, DON'T get a post 59 plate replacement as the wring plug's different as I found out

The lock's easily changed in 30mins with the upper door card off.. You tube can help with images

Hi, I changed the rear solenoid in half hour..

I can run you through the removal/re-fitting but although it's tricky, you might be quite pleased at doing it yourself

I've done it twice, having bought a unit the 1st time with the wrong multiplug.. And boy was I relieved when the 2nd unit fixed it, £20 for the salvage part with the internal release cable still attached

Hi mackers, despite the typing error.. It's one of your rear doors yes! A solenoid for the relevant door from a 59 or older will fit your 07, a seat specialist told me that 10 plate on has a wiring difference..

I would be going to a breakers for a salvage part, so you can be sure of compatibility

The plug's the same but the pin's inside are in different places, so knowing the age of the donor's helpful..

Pm me if you need more detail

When I got my o/s/r solenoid, they were hard to get online.. And now that the mk2's coming up 10 yr old.. Damaged and scrapped early versions will be finding their way to the salvage yards..

Hi, the car should fail it's not if any door doesn't open.. However as I had the issue on my o/s/r one prior to the test last yr, I opened the door from inside before hand and left the car open..

I got a pass.. But I did fix it soon after as it got annoying

Mackers, the part no's are correct.. Although pre/post 2010 cars use the same numbers even with the multiplug difference, I bought one from a 12 plate.. Fitted it to an 09 and got caught out, hence the pm I sent you

A specialist vag breaker helped me out, but only after returning the post 2010 part for a correct pre 2010 one.. It may happen that newer units can be modded with a bit of snipping and soldering to fit pre 10 plates in due course

Hello there, drivers door all fixed...garage said it was the lock not working so put a whole new lock in think the part was 170 including vat and total bill was 235.....still hasn't resolved the issue with the back doors though but I was reluctant to pay 600 for new locks :/

Has anyone tried a DIY fix? Some say it is simple enough to do... Having a similar problem myself with the front passengers door not unlocking with the remote but will unlock from the inside fine:confused:

I've replaced the mechanism on the rear passenger door with a mate, took about 45 minutes. Need to do the front one next...

I've just done my rear drivers side door on my own in the dark with an LED floodlight.

I managed to it by only taking the fabric/leather insert out. It's a bit fiddly and you need to have the new one close by to figure out how cables and connectors are attached. I would advise not unbolting it from the door until you have disconnected the electrical connector as you can't get enough purchase on that flipping clip. Also just unthread the inner handle cable from the door and pull it out with the lock. Disconnect it on the floor with a pair of needle nose pliers and attach it straight onto the new one.

I have a 60 plate Cupra so it has the newer version lock. Couldn't get hold of one on eBay, so ordered from Dave at Sere. Came to about £125. The new one works perfectly now

Also took me about 45 mins, most of which was getting the flipping electrical connector off.

Just the drivers door to do. Yay

Add an extra w to the front of the above url. I don't have enough posts to add web links yet.

Managed to find a couple of hours break in the weather and got the drivers door done this morning. Very happy with being able to unlock my car again.
