Has anyone had an issue with the car not getting upto full temp?

Noticed this past week or so that its running cool. On the vehicle info screen its reading the oil temp of 72°c and coolant 75-77°c. Usually see oil 102°c and coolant 90°c...

Yes its been cold outside recently but tonight it was 4°c outside, driving for 55mins over 45 miles city to country and still didn't get hot.

Sticking thermostat or???

Thanks.

This will most likely be the thermostat/water pump failure - it's an integrated 'all-in-one' unit and I've seen a few people say it's failed. It's happened on my 1.8 twice now, covered under warranty on both occasions. Just a shame it took 2 dealers and multiple visits to diagnose it, and then 5 days to repair first time round.

I had the same symptoms as you, engine just wasn't getting up to temp. I once drove 2 hours to Manchester and the engine dropped all the way below 50C. Basically, because the thermostat isn't functioning correctly, the engine over cools.

I can't find the thread I'm afraid, but I'm fairly certain there is a PDI out so the dealer should be aware when you take it in.

Thanks Rich!

I will give them a head up anyway!

Just noticed this, did you get it sorted? We had the same issue on our 180TSI, the dealer replaced the electronic thermostat under warranty.

Hi, no worries!
Yeah I got it sorted(5 week lead time on booking car in) but all is good now!
Lets hope it doesn't happen again, 3 year old end of December.
And yes, exact same issue...

Nice one, and yes, ours is also 3 yrs old in June so fingers crossed it doesn't fail again but if it does, would hopefully be covered by the 3 yr extended warranty we took out when purchased from the Car People.
