Water leak in tailgate!

Hey guys,

Opened my boot tailgate on my 2010 facelift FR today and water came flooding out of my tailgate! It leaked from between the plastic boot trim and the actual tailgate right up the boot glass!

Any ideas where it could be coming from?

Maybe a light seal? Does the boot have drain holes like the doors do? Definitely not screen wash so it's not the washer pipe!

Thanks in advance

The only thing I've had leaking on these tail gates is the back window leaking itself and sometimes the wiper motor seal. 99/100 times though it's the washer hose joint at the wiper motor. Are you absolutely sure it's not washer fluid?

There's a good chance the hose for the rear washer's come loose.. But old Ibiza did that

I'd open the boot and try the washer jet.. If it's not squirting, the trim panel needs popped off and with a cable tie.. Resucure the hose to the rear of the wiper motor

Vag hatchback's are common for it, especially seat' and skoda's

^^ as above, my money would be on the rear washer. Mine did it also; the rear washer will still work but takes a second to come through as it leaking from somewhere. There's a thread on here that will talk you through the repair, its fairly simple.

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi, if the washer tubing is routed the same as the Ibiza (mine was a 54plate) there's a connection under the battery tray, one above the o/s/r arch where the seat belt inertia is, the the third goes on the bk of the motor

I used 3 cable ties to sort it, just stops the connections blowing with the pressure.. A mind somebody saying to me the hoses blow in the cold weather, just when you need your rear screen gets filthy quickly☹

Ok so, it's 100% not the rear wiper hose!

This morning I unlocked the car that's been sat in my drive all this week as I've had hand surgery and can't drive and there was a nice big puddle of water in the passenger side front footwell!!

After lots of pulling up carpets testing door seals etc I've realised the water is filling the tailgate completely, it's then flooding out of the light access panel into the boot. Making its way down the boot, soaking the rear bench, then down and through the carpet!!

My drives on a slope so that's why it ends up at the front of the car!

The water isn't coming in through the light seals. Some guess it's either a poor seal on the boot glass!?

It's really stressing me out as the car stinks of damp etc.

Hi, where's your pollen filter located.. Being part of the air intake it may be leaking as the unit has a seal

If the filter's never been changed, there's a good chance that the seal's letting water in.. And when the filter's blocked it just absorbs dampness as it's a paper filter which fills up with leaves, muck and everything else that comes through the intake..

I've changed the pollen filter on every car I've had with a/c along with car's the family have..

Thanks for the suggestion but the pollen filter was changed earlier this year, I did check around there as at first I thought I had two leaks one up front and one in the boot! However it's bone dry around that area so water is coming forward from the back due to my sloping drive!

I have a prefacelift with leaky boot, mine is leaking from the airvents behind the rear bumper.; They are hanging lose and not sitting flush, still haven't decided how to fix it though!

We have same issues on Peugeot 107's in work. We just replace the air extractors as the foam seals perish and fall out. Might be worth taking them out and removing the seal, put on some butyl tape and/or some silicone sealant
