Does anyone know exactly when details of the 2016 facelift will first be announced? Will this be at one of next year's motor shows and when is the Mark 4 Leon due? Would this be the same year as the Golf Mark 8?

If I remember correctly the mk2 face-lift was for MY10 (May 2009) and ended production towards the end of 2012.

The mk3 was unveiled in September 2012 and started hitting customers around the end of the same year.

So potentially come MY17 build we could have a face lift - built from May 2016 and hitting customers from end of June. That would suggest a reveal at whichever motor show is March next year.

Build the FL for 2-3 years (sales dependant) and we have a mark 4 around 2018-19.

As a result of the diesel emission issue don't be surprised if this facelift is scaled back on any item that isn't signed off. It will certainly have an impact on the Mk 4 Leon which sits on the evoMQB platform which will either be delayed or most likely not have as much new tech.
VW will want to protect their cash reserves so we might see the 0% deals replaced by a low interest deal such as Skoda but this is offset by the continued weakness in the Spanish market.
Might see the price of the petrols increase with the increased demand as people wake up to the increased complexity of diesels.

That will be the Geneva motor show which I'm going to :)

Hello!

Bringing up this thread. I am really considering a new cupra 195 DSG 5D for my next car with some extras. At the moment, and until 2016/I there is a discount in my country of 2k for every model in the Leon lineup.

25k euro for the one i want, and with some options, and registration, and hopefully some discount on some options, like seat sound, 19 wheels and parking sensors i hope to get a quote for about 26k euros.

If it is true, and the facelift will come out in may, and delivery in the summer, the price for the facelift will be higher i bet, and no discount i guess - should i wait for the new car or should i not care about the minor changes and just get the current one.

I have not made my mind up 100% yet, but if all goes well, i probably could be place a order in January 2016.

My dealer told me, that in 3 years the car will be worth about 20k with a milage of 60 000 km and well maintained. Will the facelift make it worse or will the discount on the older model be in my favor?

Also i am not in a hurry as such, but i am fed up with repairing and driving with my e90 330XD :D

Any thoughts ? What would you do?

I think it's swings and roundabouts, what you might loose in one place you gain in another, so you need to decide what's most important to you.
Do you want to wait and probably pay a bit more and have some slightly more up to date kit and maybe a slightly higher resale value in the future , or do you want it almost immediately and possibly cheaper, but slightly more dated with possibly a slightly lower resale value.

Personally if it was me, I'd wait for the facelift model, your obviously not in a super rush, also in the great scheme of things your spending 26k so what's a few extra euros here or there.
Plus if you choose right, the monetary cost is soon overshadowed by the enjoyment you get from the car :)

I'd probably look for another dealer though, if he told you with a straight face a 26k euros run out model leon will have a 20k value after 3 years and 60k miles

Thanks for the reply. As far as decisions, i am aware, that both have their ups and downs. I have not gotten a official quote, so i am hoping, that it will be cheaper..

Anyway, regargin the dealer - Seat is only sold by one company in Estonia :D So no luck there.

What do you guys think the resale value of a 3 year old C265 would be? Talking euros here. 17-19? Realistically i would be happy if i could get 17k in 3 years time - that way i could get my original investment of 7-7500 euros back and put it down on a newer car or smth.

At this moment, the 2014 models are selling here for about 22-24k, so the second hand market is quite good for Cupras in Estonia :)

When I said about the dealer and his price value after 3 years I didn't realise you were in Estonia, clearly it's a completely different market over there regarding the pricing of second hand cars.
So maybe your dealer is correct on his valuation ?

For the UK at least I'd agree with Deanos percentage value :)

UK is diffetent for sure. Since as of november 2015 we had about 10 cupras (mk3) registrated in Estonia - so if one comes up for sale, it is most likely bought new from Estonia and has a good history. Add the small numbers, and the price does not drop very much.

Intrestingly, cupras seem to be more expencive in Germany ect, because mobile.de is filled with cupras from 2014 and 2015 with a price of around 30k...

I will testdrive the 280 model januray 6th. Is there any noticalbe differences in sound etc with the 280? Will be tsting probably in snow, so the oomf will not be as good anyway...

@karlhobe: You could consider getting the car from Finnland. Here I get a 3k discount + including free service for the first 3 years. Plus a webasto heater for around 1k. I assume you don't have that nasty car tax we have here in Finland, so you will be able to claim that back. (I pay about 13k tax on top )

That is an intresting option, but since i am going to buy it as a lease, i dont think it will be easy - better get the same discount here :D

As far as markets go, yes they are different.

But about the 265 - i read somewhere that is has been discontinued somewhere.. Here it is a 2k saving over hte 280 and the only options are some black details and 19" wheels, that are an 199 € option on the 265. Thats it. Also here we get the 265 with DSG. I just can justify the 2k extra on 280/290... On paper/irl they are basically exactly the same :D Or does anyone see the point of spending 2k on the 280/290. In uk i understand, that the options cancel out the price difference and dsg is a bonus also for some.

Also since the discount is until end of I/2016, i am guessing that if i order in may or smth, will i get the facelift? But that means waiting until the middle of the summer at least...

The A3 facelift is set to hit the show rooms next month It gets the new 113bhp 1.0 and 187bhp 2.0 petrol engines and minor exterior changes, I would imagine the golf will be next followed by the Leon before the end of the year

In 2012 the A3 was launched at Geneva (march) then the Golf and Leon followed at Paris towards the end of the year. The planning should be more or less similar in 2016, so let's wait for Paris this year (october) but official pictures should be released sooner.

Golf R should also be upgraded to 310 (even though I was expecting more) so we can have another update for the facelifted Cupra (300 maybe :) )

Maybe they change the front led head lights. Led lights are smaller In seat suv 20v20.

Maybe they are integrating signal lights with DRLs just like on Ateca, maybe choice of color for the interior lightning and that sort of thing, just maybe, or these might be my whises and hopes hmm...:funk:

I notice that there is a new (April 2016) edition of the SEAT Leon brochure (but no price list yet) available to download on the SEAT UK website, but apart from a few extra special edition models (SE Dynamic, FR Titanium and Cupra 290 Black - Just standard models with a fixed selection from the list of standard options), there don't seem to be any other perceptible changes or additions at all, and certainly no sign of any facelift for what I assume are now the 2017 model year cars (starting production in week 22)? I've also searched the web, and there is nothing new at all about a facelift for the SEAT Leon since a few heavily disguised spy-shots taken around October last year. SEAT seem to be by far the most uncommunicative of the VG brands with regard to any information about future facelifts or models - There is already plenty out there about future VW Golf facelifts and all-new models and also about the facelifted Audi A3 and the new Audi Q2, and even a few clear photos of a possible Skoda Octavia facelift. This is very frustrating, as I am considering replacing my SEAT Leon with a new one near the end of this year, but definitely would want to ensure that I ordered the facelifted version with full information about all the possible colours, options, engines, etc.
