Hi everyone,

Some of you may remember my last post about my 2 Seat Leons, and the dilemma I was having deciding which one to keep (the white 2001 Cupra or the red 2005 FR).

I'm keeping the red!! It makes more sense and I am going to do a few things to it to make it more to my liking.

I have a genuine question though - how much realistically should I put on my white 2001 Cupra with 165,000miles on the clock? I've had the wheels swapped over on the cars so that the FR is now wearing the Audi rims, and the FR standard rims are now on the Cupra. Aside from that, they are no different to how they appear in the attached photo.

The guy at KwikFit put me on the spot today and asked me how much I want for the Cupra. As I have to go back tomorrow, I said I would chat more about it then. But I really don't know. I know that the mileage is high, and it has a bit of rust, not much tho, now in a wheel arch and at the bottom along the sills but mechanically it is brilliant (sailed through the MOT a couple of weeks ago with one advisory).

It's so hard to put a price on it. The kids and I have (and still do) loved it to bits and although I spent quite enough at the mechanics over the last 3 years, I will still be very sad to let go of it. It does have the nicer interior of the two cars, being black leather electric seats and it also has a 6 stacker CD. I wish the FR did!! The Cupra also has a better sports exhaust which makes it sound nicer. I'm unsure whether any of these things add any value to it as far as selling it on.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could give me your opinions. I will go online now to Auto Trader but it is hard to find any like mine with the colour change etc. I will try to find similar specs but in the meantime, I would be grateful for your comments/suggestions.

Ta guys!!

Lou

Oh. I can't post attachments apparently? Why's that then?! The cupra is at least shown in my profile pic!

What's the history like on it?

Has it had clutches and how many?

When was the pumps and belts last changed?

Mileage doesn't worry me too much, but the parts that'll wear will be up soon if they've not already been changed. Like the Turbo for instance.

It could be a gamble to buy so it'd probably be around the £1000 max for me, dependant on history.

Without significant history it would be allot less.

Id say start at £1500 and see how you get on.
If you start at a grand and you get knocked down on price you may aswell give it away.
And nobody (except the buyer) wants that:)
