Hi there,

Mk1 Leon cupra (180 auq)

stage 2 - 225bhp, 270ft/lb

I went to clean out throttle body, and I noticed quite a lot of oily residue in the pipe that connects to the side intercooler. Obviously this can't be a good thing, but anyone offer any explanations to why?

Cheers :)

Turbo cars do have oil in the intercooler and pipe work as the turbo is lubricated through oil from the sump.

The intercooler is the lowest component and therefore will generally sit in there although air will sometimes pick it up into the intake manifold hense why cleaning the throttle body on regular intervals is a good idea.

Also there is breather pipes that attach to the intake pipes which will carry oild through.
