Is it possible to remove that stupid plastic guide thingy so I have full access to the full width of the whole of the Filler Neck does anyone know?

God I find that thing irritating...

How are you meant to get a wider funnel nozzle in there without the diesel not jumping straight back out at you ??

Why do us DERV Drivers need this in there anyways ??

Fair enough with the Petrols...

Any Tips ??

It's in there cos some EU clown decided that all diesel drivers spill fuel and cause a hazard to other road users ( specifically motorcycles )

EDIT - just read this :

Beginning with 2013 vehicles, VW redesigned its fuel fillers to accept only diesel nozzles. Gasoline nozzles are smaller than diesel nozzles.
But with one of the new TDI fuel fillers, if a driver tries to insert a gasoline nozzle instead of a diesel nozzle, the fuel tank gate will remain closed.

And this seems to show that it should be removable - http://www.partsbase.org/seat/leon-leon-4-le-eu-2013-5f-d-000-001-20110-fuel-tank-with-attachments/

What a farce... ive had my previous TDI Leon for just over 10yrs & not once spilt Diesel anywhere... ive filled cans by the 100's aswell and never a drop spilt.

Id like to know how to get that Insert out without dropping in down the filler neck?

If you look at the link I put in - it looks like it can't go further in to the tank due to a step in the neck.

And if you compare it to the petrol filler - only that part seems to be missing

Do you have the same issue as me in that the pump keeps cutting out when trying to fill meaning it takes like 10mins to put in a tenner of diesel?

Yep - slowest car in the world to fill if you get a sensitive pump.

How is it possible to open the flap that is in this miss-fueling device, what happens if you mistakenly run out of fuel, I tried to put a funnel in and found it won't open, are the fuel pump nozzles magnetic? or is there some sort of metallic detection device in the filler neck?.

The diesel nozzle at the pump is just the right diameter to push the missfueling device tabs wide and unlock the flap so you can put it further in to the neck.

Total waste of time IMHO - took it out to make life easier.

Thank you Deano and Dt-spd for your helpful replies,
I had in fact got my hands on 6inch tubing which was 25mm outside Dia
and then was able to insert a funnel into it (I think a bit fiddly LOL) if i needed it in an emergency,
Then found out that if you purchase the right Diesel can it will have the correct filler Dia
at the end of the nozzle,
But in the end I decided to remove the misfuelling device, I got there in the end
I did break off the retaining lug on the locking ring as instructions wasn't clear on that part,
not to worry though as it won't be going back on.

Looks like this will be my first mod.
Couldn't believe how tight the filler neck was.

Once I remove this mis fueling device can I vent the tank to squeeze in an extra 4-5 litres, like I could with my previous VW group cars?

It will fill quicker but unfortunately you won't be able to overfill like earlier cars.

Best I have done is 47 litres so far.
