Not yet got the new FR ST 1.4tsi yet (should arrive next week!) but could not resist buying these as future winter wheels:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322190238910
They will be 16" 5 x 100 and will take 205 45 16 tyres.
They are 6.5j ET41 whereas the ones that will be on the car will be 7J ET45,but the offset should be very near?
I rather like the retro style of these and thought the price was very reasonable.

It's just going to be smaller wheels which mean more arch gap, potentially more speed on the road than on the speedo etc etc

The normal fitment is 215/40 tyres on 17" wheels and 215/45 tyres on 16" so there should be little difference in overall size..

You might find this helps http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Seat.html Gives offsets etc for practically every wheel under the sun.

Thanks.
In fact on closer examination the wheels are 7j X 16,et 42.
So,(I think, due to the way positive/negative offset can confuse) they will have 3mm MORE offset than the standard 17" wheels.
If I am correct then no spacers required and I assume the extra 3 mm is so small so as not to cause any clearance problems on the wheel arch.
As you say,215 45 16 tyres will give a very close rolling radius size to the standard 215 40 17.

If anyone else wants a set of winter wheels these look OK:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A1-A...757194?hash=item3f6663d0ca:g:8G4AAOSwRgJXkivA
A lower offer should get them .The good thing is they have been refurbished to a high standard which usually costs at least £50 a wheel.

Certainly look good value, but having purchased a cheap set of wheels and (new) winter tyres for my other car, I found little or no value in them last winter. This winter could be different, of course, and I do live in the Midlands, but I have become a bit sceptical.

If you live in Scotland please ignore the above.
