Looks like you and your lad had fun. I need to get mine sorted to have a bash at a few track days. One day my lcr may be as good as yours.

I'm sure it will be better, much better. Only thing I would say is if you do want to do track days, just do it. Rather then spending loads on mods just get the car in to a state where it will survive the day without issues and then just go for it. See way too many people spending thousands making their car quick and before they're done just lose interest.

Anyway, fitted an alcantara gear gaiter and an 8v s3 gear knob. May not be to everyone's taste but I'm loving it. Reminds me of an R8 gear knob.

Had the wheels refurbed. Didn't want silver but didn't want them too dark so these are spot on as far as I'm concerned.

Today I had the time so took the wheels off and waxed them with some colinnite.

They do actually look slightly darker in real life.

Work vehicle in the background. So much more comfortable! Tiny eensy weensy bit slower though.

Also fitted a new splitter. I expect the mrs to scrape the shite out of it the first day she drives it. Same for the wheels! [:@]

Hopefully be picking something else up for it tomorrow. Small thing but will hopefully enhance the driving experience a little.

As mentioned in the previous post, went to pick something up today....

From jack at royal steering wheels in Aylesbury.

A friend mentioned that it looks thicker on one side but that's just the light on the photo. Feels so good and because it's something you're always touching when you drive you're always feeling the benefit. Sounds obvious I know.

Anyway, goes well with my gear gaitor.

And a pic just because

Not updated in a while.

Going to the Nurburgring again on Thursday so last week a friend fitted some parts for me.

Timing belt, water pump and tensioners. Didn't actually need it mileage wise but was about 4 years since It was previously done so thought I may as well. Fitted a new expansion tank as well just because. Cam cover gasket as there was a leak. Spark plugs. Got all the above from sere motors. Actually told dave that I need all the bolts possible for an anti roll bar, engine mount and timing belt change because I was paranoid and ended up with 26 bolts  was too scared to look at the receipt after that :D

Mk4 r32 front anti roll bar from awesome gti. The whiteline rear was at the middle setting so now I've put that onto its stiffest setting to counter the understeering effect of the front anti roll bar. Only time will tell if that worked but so far feels flatter and neutral so I'm happy.

Engine oil and brake fluid change again.

Fitted my xp12s on the front and then went over the car with a rotary polisher yesterday. She's good to go now :)

This car is exactly the way I'd do one to. Looks fantastic. Love your meticulous care and maintenance.

Thats very kind of you matt, thank you.

So! got back from the nurburgring yesterday and as always was absolutely fantastic. i've been 6 times now and whenever i go out for the first lap i always think "wtaf!!" because the inclines are so much more then remembered and what look like long straights on video are anything but. you soon acclimatise though.

thursday the track was open from 1715 to 1915 so done 3 laps. friday was wet and i'm too much of a scaredy cat to out in the rain there. then done 5 laps on saturday. the camera only recorded 3 laps which im pretty gutted about especially as one lap was a clear sub 9. i went past the gantry and a friend pressed the wrong button to stop the clock so i had to grab it, sort it and stop the timer by which time i was at least a couple of hundred metres past the line and it clocked at 9 dead or 9.01.

anyway! some pics.

last year after getting pranked many times i stuck some stickers on friend cars that implied that they liked men and their err "weaponry". so i got this in return.

my friends volvo. dont laugh, its at about 450 odd bhp. the sticker on his rear bumper is more ironic then funny.

Right, videos.

This one is where I went through the barrier just behind a friend in his Volvo 850. I chased after him, somehow caught him, he misses a gear and let's me through. Now I'm trying to get away from. Up the back uphill 'straight' in fifth gear, go to change into fourth for a left handed and get sixth

It wouldn't have been that bad except he overtakes me like I'm standing still and then half of Germany follows him as I try and get my speed up.

Last corner cracked me up, he was giving me room as was I but he went into the bend too tight, hit the kerb and the back end was all over the place. Looks pretty tame on video but I was cracking up.

Another video with a friend

This was a pretty busy lap, lots of porsches and bmws coming past me. I don't like to hold anyone up at all but it was getting tedious. Just after the karussell my friend overtook me in his white Volvo (pictured above). You can hear me crack up because he overtook me so closely we could have shaken hands. Then a big flame and I was cracking up again! He's also my mechanic and it's only him I trust with my car.

Hi, beechey, thanks.

For the Nurburgring photos I always go to https://www.ringportal.nl/en/photography and check the dates I was there. Be aware though your eyes will get a bit of a workout as you scroll through thousands of photos. I didn't really scroll through all of them this year, just couldn't be arsed.

You'll enjoy the Nurburgring, no other track comes even close to comparing.

The liquidgauge I can't actually remember if I got it from race diagnostics or awesome gti tbh but it seems to be up quite a bit cheaper than it used to be. I'm sure I paid about £240 odd. It's up here http://racediagnostics.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_34&products_id=38 for £180 and that's with the insert for the vent.

So castle Combe was this last Friday. Had an awesome day on track. A duel with a mates 850 t5 with im guessing about 320-330 bhp, coilovers, AP brakes and a plated diff with semi slicks. I have the video of him chasing me, in fact it's his video and it's the same guy I had fun with at the Nurburgring.

Seat action starts from about 6.25

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L-RVpnxFLHc

Had a duel with some other cars but all very friendly, in fact I was giggling most of the time. Because it's a forum day, over the years I've got to know most of the people so it's an enjoyable day.Unfortunately my camera decided to corrupt the videos for some reason which is a pain but there you go.

I'll leave you with a pic, worth checking out my mates reaction :whistle

Take the old vent out and put this in. Only thing you need to do is put a hole round the back to feed the wire to your obd port. Not hard and instructions are included.
