Your thoughts please before I invest in the last, and by far the most expensive item I need for a Stage 2 remap, namely a Wellycooler with custom 2.5 pipework throughout supplied and fitted.
With a custom remap included it is coming to a tad over £1000.
Is there gonna be that much of a difference between my current Custom Code generic map and a Custom Stage 2 to justify this outlay I am wondering...current figures are 212bhp and 229ftlb.............

Depends on where you go for the custom map, but most stage 2 remaps usually produce around 230 to 240hp and 280ish lb/ft.
R-tech have seen figures close to 260hp but thats been with "decent flowing setups"

R-TECH is where I had in mind.....Badger 5 for the intercooler so I'm sure the flow characteristics will be beyond doubt..........

If you're going to R-tech then I guess you'll see 240+hp, not to sure how true the 260hp is as most say the Ko3s turbo runs out of puff around 250hp.
Have a chat with badger 5 when your there getting your cooler fitted.

I'm just a bit worried that going from Stage 1 to 2 is going to be a bit of an anti-climax and that I will regret spending a four figure sum doing it.

Can anyone share their experience of going from Stage 1 to 2 and how much of a difference there is, particularly with mid-range punch ?

I have been reading and reading for about a month solid about the mark 1 Leon auq. Most that do come back and say something say that after moving from stage 1 to 2 was a bit of let down and not worth the money and should of gone the BT route.

I've been reading and studying loads because I have just got an auq the same.

Parts I've noticed from "supplier's" listed/recommended all over this site have stupid Price's on even the simple things like silicon pipe's. Over double the price just because you brought it from that well know supplier just isn't on.
I have learnt many things over the past week and one of the biggest is don't go to them.

Let me ask you all...

Who would pay £7.95p p/m instead of £2.95 p/m for the same bit of 4mm pipe.
That company even used the same image to promote said bit of pipe.
Same pipe same strength just they want to put on an extra £5.00 for there name!!

Don't jump in because of a named brand.

Rant over.
Also expect a quick delete and removal of my profile.

The figures don't really add up when you could sell up and buy a Cupra R for the £1000 outlay. Yes you'd only be on 222hp but just a stage 1 would take you to 260hp in the future.

Deffo not selling because...
1. It's a Toledo prolly worth nowt.
2. I know the car inside out and am only the second owner from new.
3. I prefer the understated look and the fact that it has a massive boot.
4. I keep all my cars until they die.

Speaking from my experience with my Ibiza, when I bought the car it was stage 1 205hp and was decent I liked it but definately felt quicker with the stage 2 mods but not as much as I was hoping for. The difference is noticeable but tbh if your wanted more power your best option is to go for a ko4 set up, thinking about the prices you've put up above you could easily pick up a used ko4 set up and downpipe adaptor and pick up either a cheap twin cooler set up off a LCR or spend a little more and go fmic but with either you'll see a lot more power imo.

With my current Leon Cupra I'm going from standard to stage 2 and not expecting too much mate may also go k04 in the future

Or
Fit the fmic and stg 2 supporting mods and fit a hybrid turbo and have it mapped in with water/meth on a custom map
just another option for you
That's what mine is Once I get the last bits fitted

I got my ko3s pretty much maxed out at 255bhp and 300ft-lb and I enjoy it .
My welly cooler cost me about £70 for rad £140 in pipe work , fitted at home
but to keep going to get nearer them figures I fitted Cupra r injectors and fuel pump , swapped manifold over so it points other way to minimise pipe work run . Larger tip , decent recirc valve and panel air filter , miltek downpipe sports cat and non red box , deleted all the crap n249 ect it gets expensive and to make the most of a ko4 you need the above Anyways

But yes stage 2 spec is worth it and reliable but get the new clutch ready it won't last long

Keep your money and go for a hybrid turbo, FMIC, S3 MAF and bigger injectors. The standard injectors won't fuel more than 240bhp on a very good custom map. Anybody who tells you different, I have two words for them, DYNO LOTTERY.
