Dealer rudeness

Hi lads, just wondering what is your experience with dealers after you've placed an order. I've ordered my Leon late June , I was told that it was manufactured after 5 weeks and waiting to be shipped. It was meant to be landing in IE on 29th of August...and only on that day I was told it wasn't shipped, I was only given that info as I've asked, no one felt obliged to inform me about further delay. Then I was told it will be shipped from Emden instead of Santander on the 6th which now turns out to be 10th in total I've asked 2 times when my car will arrive. As I was told that car will leave emden for Dublin on 6th and I couldn't see anything on Dublin ports arrivals website I've sent another email asking for update...I got very rude email back from dealers director (not even the guy I've sent my email to) telling me that this is the last time he is updating me with information and if I don't like it I can just take my deposit. WTF ? Even in poorest customer service standards that's completely unacceptable but maybe I'm in the wrong here. If not for the fact that I'm already waiting 10weeks and I want the car I was seriously tempted to tell them to eff off and take my deposit back.
Just wondering what are your experience with dealers and getting information on your car order...I felt like my business is completely not appreciated and it's going to be third car in family coming from that dealer.

Thanks for any input.

I would take the deposit and leave. That's a disgraceful way to speak to someone that is paying for something. The majority of the seat dealers I have been to speak to customers like they don't want their business.

Yep, I'd tell them to keep the car and have the deposit back. That's an absolute disgrace, although not entirely surprising. The dealership network for SEAT UK has a terrible reputation for customer service on the whole. There are good ones of course, but most I've spoken to have similar tales themselves and I've had my share of terrible service from them too. I won't tell tales, but I also won't buy another SEAT. Frankly I can't be bothered with the grief!

I should also add, my '12 weeks, Sir' order turned into a 17 week goose chase too. Not once did anyone try to update me through the process. They hadn't a clue why I was even bothered.

I would take my deposit back and raise a complaint with Seat Customer Services over the dealer's appalling customer service. I'd also post on social media - e.g. Facebook Seat UK page.

Its the managing director who sent that email so there's no one above him to forward that email to...I'll wait when I get the car and then I'll make some shitstorm , Seat's own customer service is useless , when I rang them a girl told me that she is only answering overflow calls and doesn't know anything so someone will ring me probably the next day...surprise surprise, two days later I had to ring myself ...

Take deposit back and find somewhere who will value you're custom.
Then, as said, contact the branch owner and SEAT UK and let them know how this guy is losing them both a sale.

That's outrageous, take your deposit back and make a complaint like others have said. If that is how they are treating you now, imagine what would happen if something went wrong or you needed warranty work doing
Some dealerships really need to wake up and realise where their money comes from!

I agree with everyone else, get your deposit back. You can't treat a customer like that and get away with it.

If you don't take the deposit back the dealers won, true when it comes to warranty work what service will you receive! any car aint that special that you couldn't get one from another dealer.

I had similar issues with a Renault garage in when I was 17 and bought a new Clio..... that was a VERY short lived part of my life and I saw sense shortly afterwards.

Anyhow, after being told for 6 weeks that the car wasn't able to be delivered due to the Foot and Mouth incident and then to finally receive it without the correct wheels, interior and other options I had selected.
I went into see the manager of the dealership.

He was very quick to dismiss me as another 17 year old and basically told me I didn't know anything about business or how it works..

I then proceeded laid out the entire timeline of events, the restrictions that had been imposed on importing goods from the continent, which didn't include vehicles at that time, and then the correspondence I had had with Renault UK.

The icing on the cake was the e-mail I had with the county newspaper asking if they would be interested in the treatment of youngsters by a car manufactures.. it was never going to go anywhere, but he couldn't take that risk as I had named them.

He suddenly sunk into his chair and became extremely apologetic, and lavished me with various upgrades to the car, free tax, free petrol, free insurance.

I actually wanted the car so kept it, but the satisfaction of him having to squirm up to his staff was priceless for me!

In your case I would do similar, I'd forward the e-mail to Seat UK and print it out. Go in and ask him who he thinks he is and ask him to explain his e-mail to you.
If needed, then pull out the e-mail of you having forwarded it to Seat UK.

The are car salesmen, they need you more than you need to buy the car from them.

Im actually in Ireland as u might notice , car was meant to be delivered to Dublin. I still want the car thou and deal was very good at that stage 0% and 2500€ towards my trade in so I don't want to loose that as now that offer is gone. I'll wait when I get the car and then I'll do something about it , I have already confirmed that I don't need to go back to the same dealer for warranty and service...I was tempted to switch now to new Megane but I've already bought a lot of "extras" for the Leon including custom seat covers with my own embroidery ;) if not for that I would tell them straight away to shove it.

I would take my deposit back and raise a complaint with Seat Customer Service.

That's what I'd do. If they're like that now can you imagine what they'll be like once they have all the money??

I would complain to Seat UK and make it my new hobby to think of any other ways I could make this guy's life a misery.

You could contact the now not so new customer quality director at board level for the whole vag group in Milton keynes. I had a phone call in 24 hours to sort out my problem and my icing was £200 . Her name is Alison Jones based at SEAT (uk) Ltd head office, yeomans drive, milton keynes bucks, mk14 5an
