Driving down the motorway, and the EPC light has just come on and lost all power. Pulled onto hard shoulder and called the AA. Looks like the Cam Belt has come off due too a loose Can Belt Pulley. Anyone else had this kind of issue? Car is a 14 plate Seat Leon with 24,000 on the clock.

There was a campaign last year to replace all the 2014 1.2TSI 'Camshaft adjuster pulley's but it wasn't a full recall, so unless you happened to have gone in at the right time it's possible yours might have been missed. Mine was in for two days last year to have it done. The replacement is supposed to prevent exactly what you describe, after reports of failures in other countries. It certainly doesn't seem common though.

Hope the damage requires a new engine

Sounds exactly the fault I have. Seems like its too late for a recall now. Hope the damage is minimal.

Hope the damage requires a new engine, a replacement isn't what you want. A repair job won't be 100%. If still in warranty, that is.

Just an update on the car, since only returned off holiday yesterday. Been in contact with the garage, and Seat have issued a new engine, and is currently being fitted, and should be ready tomorrow. Does anyone know if they will reset the clock as its a new engine?
