My o/s rear door lock mechanism is not working, I have bought a replacement from ebay just wondered what sort of charge there would be for fitting it, thanks

Best thing to do is to call a garage and ask.. some might not want to do the job.

It'll take a couple of hours max and you'll ideally have to have the carrier plate sealed again to stop leaks.

Try it yourself, there are lots of guides if you have a search.

I would think 2 hours maximum provided the door isn't stuck locked shut.
I've replaced all 4 locks on my LCR and could replace it in an hour if everything went well.
Make sure they reseal the inner metal door liner up properly or they will leak.

If your door is locked shut then it is a pain. It was about 2 and a half hrs for my garage but he is a vw expert.

mine was deadlocked shut, used an independent vw specialist charged me £189 and I provided the lock module.. vw wanted £308 before supplying the lock module

Good result. Mine failed during my MOT which was a right pain. I have heard of horror stories of the windows smashing trying to get the mechanism. My mechanic will only fit OE parts which is a pain sometimes.
