Morning all,
Ok so first off I apologise for my lack of input in my build thread,I'm not going to go into detail but all I will say it has nothing to do with Snow White she is going strong and hasn't been put through a hedge or anything like that
I'll start with the little bits first, as you know I keep on top of general service/maintenance of the
Cupra.
This is a recent follower change that has done just over 2.5k at 2+ getting its head kicked in in a regular basis.
Old on the left:
As you can see the old one is practically brand new with no wear so very happy with that.Done it's regular 2k oil change and to
help I purchased an oil filter drain. This is great as it stops me getting covered every time I remove the filter housing
Also put a new pollen filter in whilst I was at it as it's not been done for a while
Ok that's the boring stuff done with so on to more interesting bits.
Wanted to fit uprated engine mounts but rather than pay silly money for them I decided to polytek some standard mounts.
Pic of a spare set of mounts masked off ready to pour the mix in.You can see in the pic the polytek I've used it's basically a track density grade so pretty stiff.
This pic is once cured and masking tape removed
Then before fitting I decided to spray them Matt black. They don't look bad at all for a diy job so very happy with them and for the cost it was well worth the effort.
I've not got any pics of them during the process of me fitting them as I didn't want to mess around whilst doing the job especially as at points the engine/gearbox is supported by my trolley jack.
Obviously at first I got a little cabin vibrations and you can hear the cars mechanical sounds more. After doing around 1k miles these have settled considerably and I'm very happy with the way the car feels with them fitted. Much crisper throttle response and surprisingly it's changed the way she sounds but in a good way.
Next up I put the little rubber splitter on to make the front a bit better. For the money I'm happy with it for now but will get a proper one at some point in the year.
Next mod I've purchased(yet to be fitted) are the superpro anti lift kit and
lower arm bushes. These will be fitted once I get a set of H&R anti roll bars as it will save messing around in that area twice and paying for it to be aligned twice.
Some of you will remember me saying after her last track sessions the brake setup I was running simply didn't stand up to the hammering she gets and was holding me back. With this in mind I've purchased a Ksport big brake kit in the form of 356mm two piece discs,Braided lines, race fluid,Pagid rat-3 pads and these epic 8pot calipers
Got them fitted at AKS tuning
And a pic of them behind the wheels
First impressions are simply WOW!!! what a difference a big brake kit makes. Considering they aren't even bedded in yet and I'm probably using 30-40% of the capability until such time they are truly epic on how good they are. Just the slightest touch of the pedal once warmed up and they are better than my old setup. So once fully bedded in they will be awesome.
Whilst she was at AKS I had the gearbox oil changed again as it's been 20k since I last did it.Also had a braided clutch line fitted and swirl pot delete done. Reasons behind me doing this was because I'd noticed the bite point getting
lower on the clutch pedal.Although this didn't cure the issue it made a significant improvement.
So as I'm away with work until the end of March she is getting the slave cylinder changed as we believe this is the true cause of the
problem.Rather than just replacing it with another plastic LUK one I've got a Metal one from tps.
As it stands I've no pictures of it but once I do I shall upload them.
Got another mod coming very soon and she should look sweet once fitted but will update at the start of April with information on that.
So for now thank you for reading it's much appreciated
