That's awesome! I've been curious what they'd get on a dyno as I'm yet to have done one. I left my box on and took it for a service at my local Seat and they didn't even notice (maybe they didn't care) as warranty is still good

They won't care on a service. May well have noted it on your car though for future potential warranty claims.

Good point. I'll have to go to another dealer when I get a warranty issue and hope they don't share notes :p

checked my oil earlier on, and it's over the gradient part of the dipstick, quite far past, maybe another cm or 2, has anybody else's been like this? should i get it drained to stop excessive oil pressure ruining seals? or is it safe

I would presume so as same engine. Best way to check would be to compare catalogue numbers for both cars on dtuk website

Anyone know if the boxes from a golf r will fit the Cupra 290, I have a mate trying to sell me his, saying it will fit

If it's a JB1 shouldn't be any issues. As for the DTUK it would depend which box it is. The more recent boxes should be fine. Perhaps a software update with cupra 290 specific maps would be ideal. As for the old box (jumpers instead of push buttons) apparently only map3 would be suitable. I may be wrong but that's my understanding.

JB1 fitted today and whilst I haven't had an opportunity to really test it, you can certainly feel an increase in power through the range. As mine is a manual I set it on Map 6 (slightly less torque so more clutch friendly) as recommended by George at Burger Tuning

Got a local VAG specialist to fit it as it was only £40 .....they swore blind it had the wrong plugs as it wouldn't fit. Thankfully, after refusing to believe me, JB4 in Sunderland rang them and eventually convinced them they were looking at the wrong sensor plug! MUPPETS! Certainly would recommend JB4shop.co.uk if anyone is thinking of getting the box.

My understanding is that if your oil level is too high, then the pressure can get too high and ruin the seals in the turbo. I had a service where this happened and the dealer just tried to distance themselves from it. I expect they filled the oil up while the car was jacked up at the front so it wasn't level.

DRAIN THE EXCESS NOW.

installed the JB1 few days ago on my 290 ST having collected the car just over a week ago. I'm on a whopping 397 miles. Yet to really hammer it but will be intrigued to see what the car's capable of. Initial impressions based on normal mode is a little more go in lower revs & slightly sharper throttle response.

You're really not holding back are ya lmao . A week and 400miles in you've already got a tuning box installed.
Please do report your findings, do you plan to dyno it ?

Did you order the additional cable too bretth?

Yes.

Mine is a manual so wanted to change the map from 1 to 6 as map 6 has a little less torque and is therefore better for your clutch. Plenty of people run map 1 on a manual and have no issues but Burger Tuning recommend Map 6.

I am not the most technical but had no problem doing it.
