Stubborn Arial

Hi all,
I got a new bee sting antenna for my Altea as the old one had gone manky around the base but i'm having trouble getting it off.
It unscrews so far then just turns in the base. I've tried to hold the screw with pliers but it won't budge.
The new arial came with 5mm and 6mm threads fittings, i don't know if the old one has got a thread fitting that unscrews from it or if it's fixed.
Any suggestions on how to remove it will be gratefully received.

Nobody experienced this problem in the past then?

It's got a ball on the end for security.
Once you've unscrewed the aerial. Hold the base firmly and give it a sharp tug. OoO er

Thanks, do i give it a good tug in the vertical position or let it fold down near the roof?

Straight up If I remember rightly. Takes a bit of force.

Thanks lc. i wd40ed the base of the antenna and plucked up courage to give it one almighty tug helped by a pair of long nosed pliers and it came away no problem.
