I've been a member of SCN for a number of years, since buying my first Ibiza MK2 GTi Cupra Sport some 13/14yrs ago, which I still own.
More recently I've been lucky to find a couple rare ones of these, which I've managed to save... Here's my collection (obsession!!):

This is my first one - 1997 Ibiza 2.0 8v GTi Cupra Sport in Natural Copper Metalic:

The second one I recently came across, in March 2015 was this very rare X-reg Ibiza 2.0 8v GTi in Lazuli Blue:

More recently I was lucky enough to come across this very rare 1997 Ibiza 2.0 16v GTi (non Cupra) with optional Recaro's and only 29k miles!

Looking forward to seeing some more saved MK2's!! :)

They all look very tidy, credit to you. I have never been a fan of the copper, but yours looks good in that picture. What are the wheels? Is the blue one rare because of the colour or because it is X-reg (or both)? What are the spec differences between Cupra and non-Cupra GTi's? None of the SEAT brochures that I have from 1996/97 (when I bought my first SEAT) even mention the Cupra.

Wow - they all look fantastic!

I see you have SEAT Sport alloys on the silver 16v - what did it have originally? - Diamond cut/polished ronal's?

Did you get the SEAT Sport alloys from Kings SEAT IRRC?

The wheels are Seat Sport Speedlines - They were an option on the MK3 Cupra's - very rare, I've only ever seen one other set - I'm lucky enough to have two sets + 2 spares!!

The X-reg one is very rare as the MK2 ended in 1999 V-reg, this is a very late reg car, in a non UK colour for the 8v GTi - Lazuli Blue, which isn't a published colour for the 8v for UK spec - I believe the car was destined for Ireland, EU spec, but ended up being sold off in the UK.

The GTi 16v is a much better spec then the Cupra, which was a little basic. The GTi 16v comes with a factory sunroof and Air-con, otherwise pretty similar.

Yes... the silver one came with a heavily corroded set of Diamond Cut Ronal's, which I'm keen to get refurbished!

I did get the Seat Sport Speedlines for my Copper one from Kings Seat or Portsmouth - Ironically I bought the Super T's, collected them, then they advertised the Speedlines, which I preferred, so drove back to swap them - I should've kept both sets!
The second set of Speedlines I came across a year or so later in Ebay! lol,

:)

Kings Seat were selling of loads of NOS alloys - I nearly bought the Speedlines as well and also foolishly turned down the offer of multiple sets of NOS SEAT Sport Super T's
"How many sets would you like" lol

That explains why I have not encountered non-Cupras, as my Ibizas have all been bought with track use in mind, so I have avoided cars with sunroofs, and air-con would only get removed.

anyone fancy a Yellow/Turq Blue handbook for their Cupra for a little more 'authenticity' for the future?
only thing i have left after scrapping mine, seems a shame to bin it.

the SEAT Sport pen that came with it has sadly long gone
