Slight judder in my LCR

Hi guys, it's been a while, losing a bit of love for my LCR having paid out over £1000 in maintenance repairs I'm starting to get irritated with its small issues so now to sort them or get shut of it :/... basically when I am driving along nice and steady maybe 40mph in 5th (about 2k rpm) I get almost a judder it doesn't slow me down or anything but I can feel as if it's pulling back for some reason... also when changing gear sometimes usually 1st to 2nd going back on throttle slightly causes it to jump so to speak, it kinda shudders and then gets going again. Should mention I can't feel any of this if I am driving hard so I have no idea what it could be...

Just replaced plugs (issue was there before) had change of oil. I'm going to check air filter as I haven't had it out for around 18 months so maybe could be related? Also no lights on dash will check for codes and let you know my findings but so far as I'm aware there shouldn't be anything. I have checked the boost hoses briefly but can't see anything like a leak at least not obvious.

Sorry I can't supply any better information but it's hard to explain what happens and it the shudder when changing only happens every so often. Very confusing and irritating me now I want to love the car again I really do but it's hard work especially this last month.

Thanks in advance guys and sorry for the mass of text :)

Maybe worth noting is the idle has always been iffy... sometimes it's just fine but sometimes (had it vagcom) and it idled at 760rpm but would occasionally drop down to 730rpm then back up to 760... this can be felt like a shaking in the car always done it in the nearly 2 years of having it and just put it down to this is how this car is lol...

Thanks again!

Cheeky bump but also quick update... I found that if I put the throttle on maybe half way it does the jump thing... spoke to a very "helpful" vw specialist near me who informed me the only way to find a boost leak is to locate it by listening for it... his words were if you can't hear it then it's fine... clearly fantastic advice... anyway need to find a garage around Huddersfield that does smoke testing etc the only place I can think is awesome gti in Manchester area but they were a tad pricey :/ I might have to bite the bullet I guess

The only way to find boost leaks is definitely not just listening to them. You can get a smoke test done, among other things.

I'd start by getting someone to do some logs and see if you can pick up on anything out of the ordinary.

These cars are getting old now, I'd be checking:

Coil packs,

Fuel pump,

Maf sensor

Coolant temp sensor

Sorry I should have specified cts been done the other day also which leaves leaks maf coil packs... sure the fuel pump would show more under hard boost coilpacks too? I haven't driven the car for 2 days due to being ill otherwise I'm unplugging the MAF so think I'll get myself down to awesome gti soon to get it smoke tested. Cheers pal

does the car still judder at 40mph in 4th gear and have you tried replicating engine speed in different gear i,e 3rd slower speed .one thing everybody never changes for new on here is TB and thats one part i changed on a 1.8 20v with a ecu that solved all my running issues. i did 60.000 miles on my coil packs.
on 1.8 20v seat toledo mk2

My guess is DMF issue.

Common theme here seems to be low revs.

At 40mph in 6th gear is it even worse?

Missus bought me a ram air cone filter and heat shield which I fitted the other day and seems to have cured the issue :/... when I took the piper cross panel filter out I noticed it was quite dirty and realised I hadn't cleaned it in the almost 20 months it has been fitted... I never even thought it could be something as simple as this but it seems to have stopped hesitating and juddering... finally happy to drive it again
