hi all
had the engine management light pop up on my cupra turbo and i put my scanner in and it come up with code p1296 something about the cooling system. so i looked online and said about changing temp sensor which i have and the stat which i am going to do this week but i also noticed my temp gauge isnt moving of 60
any ideas??

Did you use a genuine sensor ?
I used a cheap ebay one once and the gauge never moved.
I replaced it with a pattern one from ecp and its been fine since.

yes i work at ecp so i got one from there aswell as the stat

99.9% of the time that code is the thermostat rather than the sensor. It's unusual for the gauge not to move at all though, it usually moves to 90 when driven hard, and then drops back to 60 when moving. Having said that, I'd still say just change the stat and then see what happens tbh mate, with all this cold weather it's possible that it's just not getting any heat in the system at all with the stat stuck open.
