I definitely found that my car's MPG got better once there was a few miles on the clock. It had 3000 when i bought it, 61000 now!! I generally average 550 to a tank, and I usually fill up when it's got around 50 miles on the range / the light comes on. I've had above 600 once or twice.

Also, it gets better mpg in the summer! No idea why.

I got 50mpg on a 280 mile run over Christmas.

Have a standard FR 184 DSG at 11,000 miles.

Fuel economy has been pretty terrible - on my more usual routes I get 40-45mpg.

I'm hoping the economy improves as the engine does more miles.

My average is 45ish mpg I mainly do 12 mile round trips to work then see my girlfriend at the weekend which is a longer drive down country roads and A roads. I have a 184 Titanium from new, around 3000 miles on the clock now so I like to think I'm in a pocket rocket with my yobbo side skirts and spoiler so get a little acceleration happy sometimes and throw economy out the window. I used to average 35 on my 1.4 black edition corsa so a marked improvement on that and I'm noticeably filling up less frequently and having more fun in the process

Hi All, let's all not forget about the joy a 184 gives us! Sometimes you just have to forget about MPG.
Last thing, does anyone else fell their 184 feels faster in normal mode than sport mode?

I've never really seen a reason to use normal other than for air con in a morning, day to day I stick to my individual profile of sport engine, eco air con and normal steering as someone pointed out there's no point using eco mode as you'll just use more acceleration to get to the same speed since it just throttles power, may as well use sport mode and get there quicker

Thanks for all the replies. Mine is sitting at about 4200 miles on the clock.

Is there anything the garage can do you check to see why my mpg is a little bit on the 'low' side?

Cheers,

I have 184 DSG at 13000miles and sticking at 70mph I can get 50-55mpg and sticking at 60mph I can get 55-65mpg, have seen no higher that 65mpg yet.

I played petrol station roulette yesterday on the way home in my 184 SC (sat nav said 46 miles to home, fuel 'range' said 45 miles...) and so I drove like a saint on the way home (M4/M25) and the computer showed 78mpg for that trip (incidentally by the time I got to the petrol station at home the range was showing 10 miles...). I know the computer isn't totally accurate, but I don't think its much more than 4/5 mpg from the truth. My car has 25k and a DTUK tuning box set on 3.1 :)

I used to have the lower power version of this...2.0TDI DSG 150 2013 model. Car at that time had about 6-7k miles on clock.

On a trip from London to York (circa 300miles), average was 57mpg, going around 70-75mph on mostly highways. At around 70mph cruisecontrol, indicated instataneous mpg is around 63ish mpg, at 75mph around 57mpg or so.

On a Sunday morning going from East London to West London via Kings Cross area (13 mile journey), eg..urban area but light to medium traffic...I get 46-50mpg from start average.

Please note, I only use Shell/Esso regular diesel, and once in awhile Shell V-Power Nitro Plus. I've put Tesco fuel once, and mpg was the worst ever on my regular trips indicated by trip computer.

Esso & Shell Vpower Nitro+ Diesel gave me best mpg. I can't feel any difference, between Esso, and the 2 Shells power or refinement wise, but on Tesco regualar diesel, engine felt more grumpy and unwilling.

FR 150 here.

I'm getting 21km/litre, which works out at about 60 mpg.
2 x 50 mile trips each day on mix of back roads and motorway.

> 500 miles per 45 litre tank full

Mine now does 0 mpg. Was towed into seat this morning. Engine light on and flashing glow plug light. Not good.
