Leaving the Seat marque

So today I have sold my Seat Leon FR 150ACT after 21 months of ownership, I really enjoyed the driving and the power from the superb 1.4 turbo engine but knackered knees and back problems meant that I needed a higher seating position. I looked at the Ateca with the same engine but expensive lease prices and long lead times for a factory build put me off so I have gone for a VW Tiguan 150ACT SE Nav which from order to delivery is about 9 weeks and leasing costs were much lower, I can only assume that because the Ateca is slightly newer and the order books are quite full they are not doing any cheap deals.

The downside is that with leasing I wasn't able to PX my car but had to sell it to whoever came up with the best price, I don't like advertising privately you tend to get the tyre kickers and not serious buyers. I tried Tootle, only had 1 offer which was low, WBAC price was an insult as the car was immaculate with only 4K on the clock plus it had the balance of the 3 year service plan. I ended up going to Evans Halshaw who gave me a reasonable price albeit slightly lower than their online valuation but it was still over £1K more than WBAC.

I still enjoy my cars so will still come on the forum to see what's happening, maybe in 2 years time I might get a better deal on an Ateca and come back to the Seat Brand.

Cheers.;)

Knee/back problems

Also suffer from knackered knees and back (combination of old age and falling off motorbikes once too often!), so after 10 years in Audi's (A4 then A3) decided to move to something with a higher seating position. Tried a LR Freelander 2 and a Ford C-Max and had to get rid of both within 6 months as both were agony on the knees when changing gear (both manual - big mistake, I should have gone auto on those cars although I am not generally a fan).

So tried "normal" hatchbacks again and must say the Leon (manual) has been no trouble at all in the comfort stakes, and I have felt equally happy in the MQB platformed A3, Golf and Octavia.

The point of this ramble (if there is one!) is that all back/knee problems differ and the best advice as always is to try as many cars as possible and get extended test drives where you can (which unfortunately is not easy these days).

Good luck with the Tiguan, look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

Driving the Leon was no problem and didn't have any back ache on longish journeys it was just getting in and out where the low slung seating put a strain on my knees, my wife was also struggling getting in and out so the car had to go. Prior to the Leon I had 3 Ford Kuga's which were fine on the knees but my wife couldn't/wouldn't drive them so the Leon was a compromise, it was a lovely car which I really enjoyed driving.

She has her own car but hopefully having sat in a Tiguan which is a bit smaller than a Kuga we may be able to make do with just one car.

Have exactly the same problem. SWMBO currently has a Mii which despite being smaller has a much higher seat position and easier entry than the Leon. If we can ever find something we both enjoy we could easily get by with one car, especially as we both now have our seniors bus pass!!

Well I am in the same position I love My Leon but my partner is struggling to get in and out. so I am looking for a higher seat position But I am stuck with the garage size my Leon just fits in So that narrows my choice ruled out Ateca and Tiguin also Kia Sportage the only one that has high seat and will fit is the Suzuki Vitara but I am hanging on to My Leon till she cant get out at all !!

With all the latest crossovers coming out it's sometimes down to what you want out of a car, I wanted a petrol engined crossover with a decent amount of power and the Tiguan fitted the bill, I don't have the garage problem as it's full up with tools and all sorts of crap. The smaller crossovers that come to mind are the Honda HRV and the Mazda CX3 plus the smaller Ibiza/Polo models that are supposed to be coming out in the near future. Forget the Renault Captur and the Ford Ecosport as they are rubbish because they don't have decent petrol engines, the AudiQ2 seems ok but is very expensive for what it is.
