Gearbox refub

Gearbox has been whining for a while, but the overrun noise in 3rd has recently got louder, so I took it to a gearbox Specialist, who has said it needs a complete rebuild, 3rd gear is missing teeth and the bearings need replacing. Going to cost just over a grand, would love to get a LSD fitted at the same time, but I just can't afford it at the moment. Was looking in getting the following fitted-

Any other parts which I should upgrade on the gearbox at the same time?

Have you seen the damaged parts for yourself? Theres a thread on here about a cheap fix someware.
Ive done the mod myself as mine was whining in 3rd

Done it, didn't make any difference.

The shimming would never work in this case as there were missing teeth on the gear, it's either rebuild or buy a recon box.
